What do you guys think of the Panerai 88
Considering trying my first panerai. There is one in Canada that I like. It is a 2011 panerai 88 gmt. Its from a seller I trust. The watch comes with rubber strap, deployment, papers, and nothing else. No box, accessories, or extra straps, he wants to keep those.. I'm trying to negotiate for $5000 Canadian (about $3850US). Does this sound about right? Thanks guys.

Including photos is always helpful, otherwise you delegate us readers with a chore of having the search the web for pictures ourselves.

No mistake it's a Panerai from a distance!
Love my PAM 88. It's The most visible amongst my 44mm pieces (DSSD, Seiko Prospex, Speedy 9300, Breitling Avenger Seawolf) but when I'm wearing it people stare at it more often than not. It has presence and unmistakably a Panerai from mile away lol.....

Thanks for the input guys. Helps a lot 👍👍. I'm considering this watch over a rolex 114300 OP 39 rhodium.

For some reason, I'm not a fan of the brightly polished stainless Panerai's. However, the 88 is a great GMT watch overall. For me, I went with an 89, same movement, but in titanium with an anthracite dial. Fantastic travel watch; lightweight & not nearly as flashy.
As to the price, buying a PAM without box & papers will make it a really tough sell if you want to sell it down the road. There are quite a few collectors that don't want to touch PAM's that don't have triple boxes. If you're confident it's real & don't plan on selling, then it's not a big deal. |

The 88 was the first PAM I loved. I still am very fond of it.
At $3,850 with no box/papers, it sounds pretty good to me. An OP service down the road will recitify most of the issue anyway.... |

I prefer the newer 531 over the 88 but for the price you mentioned, I could live with the 88

The 88 is a great looking watch but look for one with box, papers and straps i.e. a complete set.
Josh, you flip watches like most of us change our Alan Whicker's and when you want to flip it (probably two hours after you receive it), you will have a cow of a job to move it without the box and accessories. You trust the seller, fair enough, but why would he want to keep the box and accessories? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Walk away and buy a complete set elsewhere. Good luck
