Titanium DeepSea?

If Rolex came out with a Titanium DeepSea would you folks that think it's too much watch consider it?

I would also love a Titanium SubC. These are 2 watches that would look great in TI. Thoughts?

It's hard to think of a cooler titanium watch than the Tudor Pelagos, so I'd probably still choose that over a titanium Rolex dive watch, if I were looking for such a thing.

Probably not what the OP is asking for but DeepSea is partly titanium now. The case back is grade 5 titanium which expands and contracts as needed.

I love my D-Blue. Probably my fav modern Rolex. BUT I feel that the only drawback to the watch is the weight (too heavy to wear 24/7). Ti Deepsea would be perfect

I agree...Weight was the only issue with mine. I loved the size but didn't like the heft that made it roll on the wrist. I much prefer my SD4k because of that. Ti would make the DSSD great!

That would be cool anyway Tudor makes titanium if not a bigger sized Tudor to match the case in diameter to Deep Sea would be cool too

I'll go against the grain here and say that I prefer the heft of the DBlue. I find that it actually helps to seat the watch face on the wrist and the "feel" and heft is a implement pleasure.

Not a fan of titanium watches.

They look good but I like a big watch to feel big.....

Leave the DSSD alone!

Rolex will not make it in titanium.

+1

Especially after their investment in 904 tooling. It's also pretty susceptible to scars and scratches. Not very fitting of Rolex purpose imo

Well, first of all, there might be some technical limitations with making a titanium watch that is waterproof to 3,900 meters (plus 25% extra for safety), but then again, the DSSD does have a titanium caseback, so who knows?

I think a ti DSSD would be a nice option as a compliment. As much as I love my DSSD it does get a bit tedious to wear due to the weight and top-heaviness.

Yeah, totally agree. I think the Pelagos has that niche very nicely covered.

I don't like the look or feel of titanium watches so no, I wouldn't be interested in a Ti DSSD.

As an aside, does anybody else think that if Tudor offered a Stainless Pelagos or a modern stainless snowflake, whatever they might call it, that it would sell like a house on fire?? I do.

Not a fan of titanium watches they feel cheap, to me, so I love the way the DEEPSEA feels in steel.

Agreed.
I've tried them on and they turn me right off.
Then again i'm used to SS watches so perhaps somebody who is used to Titanium would absolutely love it.
I can say in all honesty that I have pondered what the DSSD would've been like to wear in Titanium but then I consider the weight of the watch is comparable to a PM DD and owners don't seem to care one little bit.

In some ways it's like having the feel of a PM watch on the wrist but at an economy price point

Isn't the titanium backing on the DS there to allow for flexing of the watchcase when it gets submerged to great depths and get pressurized???? If you did the whole watch in titanium, wouldn't the whole watch flex, maybe even to the point that the crystal and bezel would work themselves loose and pop off?

The case back is designed to flex, If it were thicker the flex should be eliminated?

I am going to guess there is no threat of the case frame itself flexing at its normal thickness.

I wouldn't mind seeing a SD in ti

Id be all over a titanium sub or GMT. Add strap option for good measure...

I don't understanding saying no to the idea. It wouldn't replace the DSSD in 904 steel, it would simply be an option. I'm all for the option, regardless if I was buying one.

I find titanium watches feel like tin in the hand and are far too light. It detracts from the heft and overall feel of quality. I know they're tough as hell but for some reason, every time I have held one, it just felt like a toy. No, I would not be interested in a titanium watch from any brand.

I agree, I just bought one about three weeks ago. Wasn't sure in the first week of wearing it but now I like the weight, my GMT2 bruiser feels sort of weightless when I wear it now. Strange feeling both great watches though.

Titanium feels cheap to me - on omega and tudor I just don't like it that much. If it was super super light like RM's maybe it would be nice but for me I like steel on rolex divers
