Any 36501 experts please?

Hello everyone. Very difficult to find any information on this amazing piece. Any idea on production numbers? Secondary market pricing? Any come up at auction? Sought after and collectible or too specialised for most collectors?

Thanks very much. Any sense of current market pricing as that appears to be an old advert please? Almost no coverage in the forums. Is that a function of rarity or lack of enthusiasm do you think?

I would guess lack of enthusiasm. It isn't a Panerai that relates more to the history and cult following. They have also redone other EOT models recently also. They aren't tourbillon or constellation maps, but I think they were only 20k. I would guess a significant hit on the 365 secondary, but I'm not sure.

If you are looking to add a "crazy" PAM, check out the 700. It is more panerai like and has a 60 year warranty! Well see about that.

Thank you Mik. Appreciate the observations which certainly make sense. I am a bit of a sucker for astronomic complications hence why this one appealed.

I thought the warranty was 'only' 50 years

That's how the watch is marketed on everything being 50; 50k, limited to 50 pieces and 50 year warranty

they are rare but an amazing watch, the original production was 10 of each model, although they will make more for vips, you can select the dial colour, case metal etc

it's hard to buy one secondhand because the watch is built for a single longitude and latitude, it's possible to get the star chart and the gearing adjusted by panerai

be aware it's a big watch so the gold versions are very heavy and the strap is 26/22 which makes the buckle too small for the size and weight of the watch so you need to change it to a thicker strap and 26/26



as a result i went with titanium, sorry it's not a great photo

people ask if i worry about it getting stolen, since the only place to get it serviced is panerai - eventually it would turn up and they know exactly who's watch it is

i don't buy the dna line, yes the models from the 50s didn't do it but that's because they were buying in other peoples movements all they did was add a new case and dial to make a dive watch, but it's still a dive watch and better then that panerai, belong to the sea and with an eot a stick and charts, you can calculate latitude and more importantly longitude

Thanks very much. I wear very large RMs and platinum APs so the size and weight of the rg one I found is manageable. I didn't notice any issue with the buckle size so will try again. The city is set already for where I live so that is fine.

Given what you say I assume most are with serious collectors hence rarely if ever seen on secondary market or at auction.

I have made a bid! The watch is new old stock and will come wth a 2017 warranty.

The DNA line was for retained value. I'm not a truest, just speaking my thoughts if a 365 came up for sale, it would take a hit. I'm not a purist as I have ceramic and dream of other modern models, but do know that the popular historics hold their value. Not sure Roger is super worried, but might as well be informed. If Panerai would make a thin 45mm Radiormir 8 day GMT date manual....I'd be done. Nothing historic there, but I'd be on the list nonetheless.

I am not a Panerai expert nor collector so appreciate the guidance being given here but rest assured I go in with my eyes open! I don't buy things for the purity of bloodline etc., what I like is far more important!

Wishing you luck friend. I really would love a sunrise sunset function. It would be super useful to me. If I only lived in a rural area the celestial function might come in handy, but in the city, you can't see much!

I love the EOT complication on my Reverso Triptyque and AP RO. Pretty rare breed these days.
