Sea Dweller - 40mm, Bigger is Better, or Both?
Bit surprised to see as much support for the maybe bigger Sea Dweller coming this week in the various speculation threads this past week.
Perhaps that is just a small group that happens to be vocal here? Upsizing the ExpII didn't seem to make it a big seller. Curious to see how the poll goes. |

If there is a 42/43mm SD, I'm in the market.
Compared to Subs/GMTs/DJs I doubt that any Rolex is a 'big seller'. The 216570 has been with us for 6 years, and if I had to guess I would say that it outsells the SD and DSSD.

I am happy with 40 mm but would consider anything if the result is well executed.

As much as I would like that I feel like they are still kinda bulky, if it had a cyclops though it would actually make the biggest difference for me

I like my 40mm size. The 39mm-40mm size fits me the best. I have an Omega Planet Ocean XL and another watch the is 45mm and they are just too big for me.

And so far voting so far has 54% preferring the 40mm....though maybe those voters already bought and now Rolex can tap the market for the bigger model

A 42mm SD4k would be perfect. I think the thickness of the current watch would be better balanced by a wider case.

For me, 42 would give the SDc more personality, so, yes, I'd be more interested. Today I'd take a 116610LN over an SDc.

This is a tough one.... In general I'm against the size increase and cyclops.... But I want to see the final watch before I write it off. I'm with the minority hoping for tastefully done green elements maintaining 40mm.

I always thought a couple millimeters wouldn't really matter. I bought the 42mm Exp II and is was not very comfortable compared to my subs and GMts. I learned my lesson, for me 40mm is a perfect sweet spot.

For those of you griping that a 42/43 mm would be too big, at least you guys have another option with the submariner or one of the older sea dwellers. The guys like me that want a larger diver watch have only one option which is to go to the DSSD- way too thick. That said, let's have more options for the guys that prefer a larger watch! Every other model already caters to the 40 mm and under lovers.

First time I tried one on I thought 42 would be better. But as time has past, and I've tried them on about 50 times, I'm good with 40. But whatever they do, except flat out kill the model, I'll be happy. Clearly I voted 'either'.

I bought a Davosa ternos professional when it first came out years ago and it was 42mm by 15mm and it felt fine to me.
7.5" wrist, 16" forearms, 20" biceps. 40mm is perfect though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

It has been confirmed that the SD4000 has been discontinued and I feel it is unlikely for Rolex to completely kill the Sea Dweller on it's 50th anniversary so I fully anticipate some change more than just font color to the Sea Dweller this year.
We will all know in about 36 hours! ...by the way, I voted for both. |

I have the current SD4K and it's my favorite watch. I love it the way it is. This watch is a keeper for me because to me, it is perfect. I've never been happier with a watch.
If Rolex makes a larger case for the SD, I will probably buy one to complement my existing SD but I don't think the watch needs anything changed. |

Love the SD. Had 16600. Have 116600 and DSSD. I'm sure I'd find a way to budget for a SD that fits between those two if it is presented well. Cylclops or more bling and I'm probably out.

42 would fit nicely in with the Diver range.
