Tritium advice tritium experts (please help)
Hi everyone,
I have a 14060 Submariner 1996 T serial, the black insert bezel is in fair condition 6/10 (refer to picture) and the dot at the 12 o clock is tritium. Rikki from TimeCareinc.com said he can replace the black bezel insert and return my old one back to me which is pretty cool. This would mean that a brand new luminova black bezel insert will be inserted, but I am afraid it will look funny since the dial and hands are getting creamy and patina is starting to show (refer to picture). Think about it luminova black bezel inster with tritium dial and hands, what do you think? Would you recommend for me to replace the black bezel insert or to keep the original one the watch has on? Keep in mind that my watch is going to get serviced and a new crystal as well, I just do not know if I should replace the black bezel insert. |

You can try and source another tritium bezel insert, which is what I would do. I personally do not like the look with luminova when the rest is tritium. Good luck.

I'd leave the insert alone. Why do you want to replace it? Tritium and luminova are not a good match, IMHO. And that patina is a good thing!
Also, note that 14060 inserts with tritium pearls ain't that easy to find. And unlike vintage Subs inserts, the one for the 14060 is not interchangeable with the date-version of the Sub (16610), so there are fewer options out there. (I tried finding one for myself once and gave up.) |

Well if you'd like a cleaner insert, take Rikki up on his offer. But have him pop the Luminova Pearl out. Now you'll have a clean black insert that looks like 50% of the vintage ones out there. Plus you'll still have your original insert when you want to go back to the original look.
