Small scratches on pam 510 polished stainless
Anyone have any news on how well Cape Cod polishing cloths work on small polished stainless steel scratches/swirls?
Any alternative? |

I mostly read the Rolex posts. I've read both positive and negative comments on the Cape Cod cloths. I believe most were negative regarding removing scratches. Suggest searching on the forum.

I have the same watch and cloths. In ambient light, the cloths could help with medium to heavy swirl... In bright light (full sunlight, white indoor lights, etc) however, expect the cloths (or any similarly abrasive equivalents) to greatly increase the amount of fine swirl.
Your best bet is to just send it back to Panerai for a real polish. |

Personally, and unlike many other brands, Rolex included, I find Panerais look better with some marks and scratches.

I have reluctantly come to the point that fine scratches of polished metal are fated to occur. Other than professional polishing, the scratches are there to not only stay but multiply. A skilled polisher can make the watch look pristine. Too much polishing or a bad polisher can ruin a watch. Polishing does not seem to be a home project.

If I can't feel it with my finger nail, I try not to worry about it.

Its kinda weird because I have several Omega and Zenith pieces that have quite a bit of polished stainless on them. They have ALOT less scratches/swirls then this Pan. over a much longer period of time.
This was my first Pan and wonder if their ss could be "softer"? |

Cape cod works well, but the small swirls will reappear in no time. Also, keep in mind, every time you polish you remove a small amount of the metal

Except I think Rolex looks good with some marks and scratches as well. Oh hey, I even think my "beater" X33 looks good with dings, and scratches. :)

I've had good luck with the CC cloths. If they leave little swirlies they're darn hard to see. And metal removal is absolute minimal. We're not talking about rouge and a buffing wheel.

Fine scratches on the surface are just part of owning a stainless steel watch don't worry about it if you do you'll not enjoy your pride and joy. Best wishes.
