Gift for father in law

Thinking really hard about getting him this for his 65th.

Anything I should know about this particular model?

I am an AP guy, so pardon the newb question.

It comes with a fluted bezel too. It's a little more money but give it a little extra something

He isn't a flashy guy at all. I think the wg bezel would be too much...thoughts?

Its a big watch. Make sure he has the wrist size for 41mm. If he doesn't you can get the same model in 36mm.

My daughter is only a wee thing right now but if her future husband buys me that we're gonna get along just fine. Very nice.

Looks like you were shopping for his 65th two years ago, what did you get him that time?

This is shady. Thankfully we don't have too many people like this on the forum!

I would go with more classic 36mm DJ with fluted bezel.

The plan is that eventually he will give it to my son. I think my son would enjoy the 40mm over the 36.

You guys got me. This was an elaborate scam to get info on a watch.

For real though I thought he was turning 65 back then.

Not sure when his birthday is but that same watch is coming out in the Datejust 41. It looks similar but it has an upgraded movement (with a 70 hour power reserve instead of 48) and the proportions are a bit "better" (IMO at least)

Here is a picture of them side by side (not my picture.) Disregard the two tone and bezels just look at the watch itself and the proportions, case size etc. The Datejust II is on the left and the new Datejust 41 is on the right.

The new Datejust 41 mm in stainless steel comes out late spring / fall.

i'd get a really legible contrast 3,6,9 dial watch in all ss with no date for a 65 year old; assuming he'll live to 80+

maybe a 39mm explorer or OP 39mm

i know a lot of older gents at my club and they like simple easy to read watches. even panerai because they're larger face.

I agree and think either of those two would be awesome.

I thought op got divorced then remarried in those 2 years. From the previous thread the f-i-l was wearing something gold so get him a dj in 18k or two-tone.
