First Rolex purchase Sub 114060 vs 14060
I need some advice from you guys, I will be buying my first Rolex soon and it is a Sub for sure, I'm having a hard time deciding between a 114060 and a pre owned 14060, cost is not a big factor to me, I generally keep watches for life and not sell them, I would love to buy new, there is something special about being the first and only owner of a watch and keeping it for life.
I tried the 114060 at the AD, I really like the new style but it does look a little more "showie" to me, I have a 6.75 wrist, the watch fits but felt little bulky and awkward on my wrist, maybe because I was holding the metal strap with my other hand, not sure. I'm more of an old soul, I like things with classic/vintage vibe to them, I haven't seen a 14060 in person, but looking at pictures online, it feels like it's the more classic looking Sub, and a lot more subtle on the wrist, possibly more compact and comfortable to wear? I will be wearing the watch pretty much 24/7, so fitment is important, I know the new Sub is superior in every way, but I'm still having a hard time committing to one. Can people with experience owning both watches guide me in the right direction, that would be much appreciated. Cheers! |

my vote is the 114060. That's what I did with my first Rolex. Like yourself, I dont plan to sell it unless I can sell it without a lost. Maybe I'll try selling in ten years.
Once you buy your first, you will want more ;) |

If you want more of a vintage feel with less bling, then you definitely want to go with the pre ceramic. Despite what many people say, the two watches don't look that different on your wrist from a third part perspective. They have a very similar aesthetic from more than a few feet away. The real difference is when you stare at it from up close. Which one looks better to you?
I'm a fan of both models. The best upgrade for the new models is the Bezel click mechanism, which feels amazing on the 114060 and cheap on the 14060. The glidelock bracelet is more customizable, but is bulkier and less comfortable than the older clasp on my wrist, so I prefer the older one. |

You said yourself that you're an old soul. 14060 is the answer.

Get a nice 14060 and send it for service at a Rolex Service Center. It will come back as new. That's what I did and that beauty is a keeper. It's very comfortable, and the lighter bracelet has a nice vintage feeling.
Don't bother about COSC or not, the movement is the same and really accurate. My non COSC 14060M is within a second fast per day.

Easy. 14060.
Find a good condition reasonably priced piece. It's no longer in production as compared to 114060. Wear it and experience it. Find what you like and don't like about it and if 114060 can scratch that itch. But first get 14060. It's easier to flip 14060 for 114060 that the other way round. |

Would a mid $5000 be a fair price for an excellent condition 14060?

114060 hands down. Love the ceramic bezel and how it will look new forever and the glide lock clasp makes it (IMO)

I went with the Sub-C.
I wear it always, and want a tank of a watch. Love the two liner, but man, the glide-lock is some thing I would miss. |

SubC felt too heavy for me. I had one and a 14060 at the same time. I kept the 14060 and parted with the newer model. The 14060 is much more balanced imho.

For those who owned both, would you say the fit similar on the wrist? Or it's like a completely different watch?

I debated. Went 14060m. Have a BLNR, and have thought about trading the 14060 for the ceramic.
Every time I look at my 14060m, I like it more and more and appreciate it. |

Go for the 14060. If you would like to buy NOS, then check out some of the trusted sellers here like justrolexes.

I vote for 116610LN. I like the shiny of ceramic bezel. You will never get bored when looking at it. I think Sub is Sub, it doesn't matter if it's old or newer version.

If you like vintage, get a 14060(m). The movement is just as good as the newer 114060.

I'd say go new with the SubC no date and make new scars and new memories on a new timepiece requiring zero service. I like my watches unpolished. Good luck

I think you should go to a reputable jeweler in your area as they may have both watches for you to see and try on in person. All you are getting here are the same answers you find on all threads where the newbie asks the day old question "Which one should I buy" Let us know which one made you smile more, then post a pic as you are wearing it out of the store.. Good Luck my friend
