Flipping

I am always purchasing new Rollies and then flipping them because I get bored with the one I have..I recently let loose my EXPY II and regret it..I am looking for something all the time and then find myself bored with it only after a few months..Does anyone else have the same problem?? How do you deal with it?

I find my flipping probability almost always directly proportional to the impetuousness of my purchase. Only Rolex I ever flipped was an SS Daytona as I only wanted it because I could get it. Once I realized I didn't care for it...

So study up, throw a picture of it on your computer screen saver. If in a month you still really want it, buy it. I think you'll keep it.

The other thing to consider is just buying two or three different watches that you wear in different environs and moods. Helps keep them all a bit fresher and actually probably woould save you money compared to constant flipping.

Of course, some flipping occurs for financial reasons. Plenty of loved watches sold off to meet more press needs.

I am afraid that I have the same Rolex affliction...to buy and then flipping the darn thing for another.
The trouble is that I have now a wife too...

I flipped both my wife and my Rollies....
I do get bored after a few months wearing the same Rollie.
The flipped all kind of Rollie within the last 15yrs.
The only ones i came back to and kept are the Expy II and a vintage GMT.

Why flip when you can just buy more? In twenty years of collecting I have only sold three watches out of the dozens that I have.

True collecting is a degenerate condition...

Dont flip, KEEP!

I don't think there is a cure to be honest with you. I think it's partly Greed and mainly an obsession. I find myself getting bored with my watch like you do and when the newness wears off I want something new again. In my case I cannot afford anymore so that's my reality check cure.

Thanks for the advice..I am really regretting the sale of my Expy II (Polar). My sellers remorse usually happens after looking at all the cool shots of them on this site..In the flesh they don't seem to look as cool. Anyone else get the same vibe??

Occasionally. The biggest difference between what you see and what you get is the size of the image you are presented with VS the actual size of the watch.

You can see so much more detail in the photos VS the naked eye!
