Correct Weight of a TT Blue Sub?
Hi,
I am new to this site and I have been a Rolex fan for many years (still waiting to buy my first one) The thing is, I was hoping someone can tell me what the correct weight of a TT Sub should be because a friend of mine who works in the motor trade has just taken what he believes to be a genuine 2003 TT sub in part exchange against a car he sold but I think it feels light and fear he has been had! He got no papers and didn't take it to a AD to check and he is now worried he may have been done over. He is going to take it and get it checked since he came to see me. I weighed it for him when he came over yesterday and it weighed 146 grams, next time he comes over, I will take some photo's and post them so you can let him know your opinion (if you would be willing)? Cheers Simon |

Welcome to TRF!!
Should weigh in at exactly 150 grams with ALL original links intact. Your weight of 146 grams, I suspect, is one link short. Cheers - JJ

Hi,
Thank you for the prompt reply. It may well turn out to be legit then, I thought I should have felt heavier than it did that's all, thanks for your help. Cheers Simon |

That's impossible unless it's the much older model with the non-SEL links and without the gold running over the clasp.
How many links do you have? Should be 9 all up on the '12' side and 4½ on the '6' side + the one flat link marked 'S'. JJ

Picture and part serial number will help determine what the weight should be.

Photo's - Is it real?
Here are a couple of photo's of my friends sub that he took as part payament for a car he sold, I took them quickly he came to my house the other day, sorry about the quality I'm not that good with the camera.
He does intend to visit an AD but still hasn't been yet, he doesn't seem to concerned (if it were me I would have been already). Thanks in advance |

That Submariner is FAKE!!!
Your friend got screwed! I hope the car was a non-running, rusted 1986 Hyundai.

Looks fake to me, I'm no Rolex pro but the endlinks on the bracelet and the ROLEX font on the dial do not look genuine to me.

Compare to the real deal
My Z-Series:
Note the correct magnification, much smaller font, smaller hour markers, etc., etc., etc..

The first thing I noticed was the magnification. I'm learning thanks to this group!

The bezel and pearl look incorrect to me. The 300 "m" needs to be aligned with the M - which it doesn't!

Hi Guys,
I spoke to my friend yesterday to give him the bad new that it was a fake, it turns out he knew all along it was a fake and was just winding me up because he knew I was a Rolex fan and I had mentioned that I could be interested in buying it from him! He did say he wouldn't have sold it to me knowing it was a fake, it has made me wonder if he would have! Anyway, thanks for all your comments, it was appreciated. |
