DD40 & DJ41 side by side

Here's a couple quick snaps of these two models so you can see the differences side by side. 1mm does make a bit of difference. I set these watches exactly together 3 days ago and you'll notice the DJ second hand is slightly ahead of the DD, pretty impressive imho. Anyway just wanted to share for those that care.

Thank you so much for doing this! I really wanted to see the two of them side by side.

I was hoping the DJ 41 would "wear" the same as the DD40. But, it does not, that 1mm difference is very noticable.

So, now I'm wondering, since someone in a recent post measured the DJ 41 out at 39.something is the DD40 even smaller than that??? Anybody have the electronic instrumentation to do that measurement?

I said that 39mm was fake photo & begged for a 2nd source.

None showed up.

Rolex says it's 41mm, it's 41mm

Why would someone try and fake the measurements? What is there to gain from it?

I agree (not that the photo his fake) you can tell that it looks at least 1 mm bigger than the DD.

What about the Daytona though, doesn't that one measure like 38.5 mm or something yet Rolex calls it 40?

While I'm sure most of the difference in apparent size is due to the placement on the wrist and angle of the photo, the bezel seems thinner on the DD40?

There was a long thread documenting and discussing that the DD40 and Daytona are both 39mm or a bit less. Unfortunate for us big wristed guys. Perhaps the 41 is really 41 and the difference would therefore be 2mm+, which is what it looks like.

Honestly it's the lug-to-lug length that affects how well it wears vs the diameter. That's really the measurement manufacturers should provide. A watch could be 50mm in diameter but if it was 30mm "long" it would feel small.

Those look about the same length. Plus, they both look like they're too tight on the OP so that causes an illusion of them also being smaller than they really are I think.

I tried on a DJ41 and it wore identical to my 39mm Explorer. Didn't try on a DD40, but I'd believe the measurement photo wasn't faked.

Nice pics and looks like a clear 1mm difference to me. Trying them on I felt they both wore smaller, like 40 for the DJ and 39 for DD.

So to put that in today's parlance, what you're saying is: "Dishonest internet calling out lyi'n Rolex with leaked image is FAKE NEWS, SAD"

Seriously though, Rolex size indications are really nothing to go by, my experience is to best go and try out. Even if that's not easy either due to lesser and lesser in-store-availability of the popular models. Golly, they don't even have the new Explorer I in store in Zurich, of all places.

While the DJ looks a bit bigger in the photo, it could have to do with placement, angle, dial color etc...

I really like the size of the 41 but then again I have an 8" wrist it really wears well.

The smallest diameter is as close to 9 and 3 as possible at 39.33mm.

The diameter at 10 and 4 is 40.68mm.

Geez. I should have at least wiped it down real quick.
