Best AD in Paris? General SS sport availability?

My wife is in Paris this week and the UK next week. I've been debating having her pick me up a Sub while she's there. Since it's so unlikely that she'll find one in the UK, I'm wondering if I should just have her get one in Paris. Assuming no AD discount on a 114060, my math puts the price at about $6,150 USD after de-tax (16%, right?), which isn't amazing but isn't bad.

I'd love some comments on what availability is like in Paris, as well as first-hand recommendations for AD's. I have to check to see where they're staying but I think it's pretty central, near the Louvre.

The AD in Place Vendome is your best choice.

In Paris I see a lot more stock then in London.
Pretty sure you can get when you want. There are so
Many ad there. And for vat back it depends on many factors
The company they use etc. I would say 13% would be great.
I see some vat returns goes from 10 to 15 max maybe ..

^ This. I think you will find one without problem. And I had 16.67% VAT return in February.

Where'd you buy and does it matter where you go or what you do to get the VAT refund? 10-16% is a big swing. I'd obviously like to replicate your VAT percentage if I do buy.

Will the ADs negotiate on price, or is the VAT refund alone your best discount?

I really don't know how it works. I received the paper that I scanned at the border and that's it. Ask AD in Paris how much refund you can get and what do you have to do to get 16-17%.

Great, thanks. Which AD did you use, if you don't mind saying?

There are several methods to obtain the VAT refund. But be aware that many shops use a third-party service such as Global Blue or one of their competitors which charge a several percent fee.

The calculator on the Global Blue website indicates you would only receive 12% back which amounts to €822.

€6850 - €822 = €6028.

$6028 * 1.09 = $6570.

If you can find an AD that will charge the VAT portion of the sale on a separate credit card transaction and then tear up that slip when they receive your stamped customs paperwork in the mail, that would be favorable as you get the entire refund that way. But I guarantee this will more difficult to find than the Global Blue (or similar) affiliated shops.

Also keep in mind that 2-3% duty will be owed to US customs when you declare the purchase.

I purchased my Yachtmaster 2 tt last May at Gallerie Lafayette and got a decent discount on top of the VAT discount. They take VAT off at store and you than negotiate from there. You need to submit VAT forms at airport which the store fills out for you. It took me about 1 hour of negotiation but it was worth it. Saved thousands and they take credit cards!
