What do you think about the Green Crystal Milgauss?
I think they look real cool. Are they hard to get? They are only made in one year so I would think they would be hard to get in the future. I have a SS Sub with date and thought that would be a nice addition to my one watch collection. What's your opinion?
Thanks. Scott |

Buy it because you like it, not because you think it might be rare, which its not BTW.

I like the look but I'd never buy it.
EDIT: As previous users said: buy the watch because you like it. I was about to buy the Sub LV because I thought it might become rare later on. I changed my mind and bough the 16610 (black bezel Sub) and am VERY happy I did. If you like a watch, buy it, even if everyone else thinks it's ugly.

I used to want the 116400GV (Green glassed milgauss)... lately I decided I prefer the black faced one without the green glass. If one become available here at MSRP, I think I will pick it up. Saw one in the grey market... 350K local... about US$7,500.
Although if a larger Datejust is released next year, I think I would like that better (smooth bezel too hopefully). |

It's a superbly constructed watch.....of that there is absolutely no doubt.
The lack of the date feature could be a deterrent to some members; but if you like it, go for it!! Good luck - JJ

Buy it if you like it !
I am sure it is a very sexy high quality watch ! But i do prefer the "divers" (sub, GMT, SD) and would rather go on other brands for a more classical look (IWC, Grand Seiko, JLC) Last edited by Gasoil4ever; 4 October 2008 at 05:33 PM.. Reason: mispelling |

if its not for the rarity of the "green crystal", and possibly lower production number, then I'd say the black and white are equally as nice and desirable piece. Actually, I'd probably wear the black more because it goes well with almost everything you wear.
However...........since the GV seems to be more "rare", and some people here, like me, do value that....I think the GV will always be the more sought after model of the 3. Plus, this rumor that the GV will be discontinued soon..... Bottomline: I own a black but I am looking to buy a GV too. |

I think they are pretty cool...but I gotta have a date on my watch. I've just grown to accustomed to having it there.

I have never cared for the Milguass; I tried a white face one on a while back and it confirmed my feelings. BUT...My AD showed me the green Milguass recently and I really liked it!

It's kind of cool, but not in a timeless way like the Sub or many other watches. The color pattern, zigzag second hand and green crystal are faddish. The lack of date makes it impractical for me. Not a fan of the hi-gloss steel look on the bezel. Looks unfinished.

I personally am undecided, but this watch tends to grown on me.
I do very much like the green crystal!

It's not the glass, it's the watch with no date that is concerning.

Wow! Thanks for all your help!
Lots of different opinions on this watch! I was actually asking if it was hard to get to see if I would have a hard time obtaining one, not for value reasons in the future, but it is allways nice to have a watch go up than down in worth! I never knew how many people in Rolex need the date function, where as in Panerai, a lot of the sot after pieces don't have date like the 232, 249, base models ect.
Thanks for your input! Scott SS Sub w/date Z |

Awesome watch. In fact, I'm wearing it today. I never get tired of looking at it.
As for the lack of date, I do need that feature and so the GV is my weekend watch. As to rarity, it depends on how that is defined. In the Rolex world it is absolutely the most rare of the modern pieces. It is not easy to find or purchase from an AD for MSRP. Marc |
