DJ for 30+ old?
Hi, I love collecting watches from any brands, but everything change suddenly when I got my first W series 16234WR DJ. I've seen many models and I can see that major youngers prefer sport models like SD and GMT, but when I'm still 32, I much like the classic looks of DJ and planning to collect more in the future. Am I out of date or are there others like me? Thanks.

I'm your age and I love the classic look of DJ's. I have a DJ(ss/roman white dial) and a SD. Two very different looks. Both equally wearable. I say 'wear what you like'.

The DJ is an excellent choice no matter what your age..
And you can get so many dial and bezel/bracelet combinations, there's something for everybody..

The big problem around here at times is people have to create a poll to be told what they should like.
I applaud your variety of brands and a willingness to wear what you like. Case size, gold, TT, SS, etc -- there are no rules other than wearing what you like. That said I'd caution against wearing a diamond encrusting 26mm Lady DJ. |

there is no rule that you must have sports models here. I don't have one but bought a mid size one for my wife with MOP and diamond dials. It's stunning watch on her and I love it.

I believe that is a old man watch and that is the reason why JJ never get one.
Come on man if you like it, just get it. Period. Don´t listen to what other guys says about it. Jocke

All Rolex models are timeless and ageless. I have seen young and old alike wear both the professional and DJ models. Look at the famous people wearing Rolex watches thread - you will see some very young people, such as the Jonas Brothers, wearing DJ's and some quite old ones wearing both Sub's, Daytonas and DJ's.
In many ways the DJ is quite a young persons watch - I have heard many on this site comment that their first Rolex, as quite a young man, was a DJ. Also, some of the current DJ dial combinations are quite snazzy and contemporary - not something you would associate with an old timer's watch. Go for it - DJ is not an older mans watch and is pure superior Rolex. The key thing is what you like. |

I find the DJ VERY VERY attractive It sits second on my wish list. And I am half your age( Yes Im a youngen) So In my opinion, I dont think age should play a factor in what watch you want, If you like it get and enjoy it

I certainly don't want to get the great people here at TRF upset with me, but I will take the opposite side to this question and say that I DO feel that the DJ may be more at home on a persons wrist that has some miles behind them, so to speak. Perhaps it's just my personal life experience that is in play here that forms my opinion. Both of my grandfathers regularly wore DJ and I have just come to associate that particular model with seniority and age. As such, when I purchased my first rollie, I tried on a DJ..... but ultimately went with a sport model (16610) because I just felt it was better suited for a younger person.
I guess we all have things that we associate with different stages in life. For example, my wife will under no circumstances ever, ever, ever drive a minivan. She just feels that that is a symbol of old age. In her mind, she associates this type of vehicle "old women" driving kids to soccer practice. Even though we have kids now and a minivan would make all the sense in the world for our lifestyle, that is just one barrier my wife refuses to cross. Don't get me wrong, the minivan is a terrific piece of machinery, as is the DJ. So I guess what I am saying is that the DJ is my manly version of the minivan! Please don't misunderstand my comments.... I feel that the DJ is a beautiful timepiece and I further agree that we should each chose to wear what "smiles back at us". And if the DJ does just that for someone in their 20's or 30's then more power to you. Just my $.02. |

I too love the DJ. I have a TT Date with a white dial and Roman Numerals. Very elegant especially when I put a black strap on it. I don't have any Rolex sport watches. Since I don't dive, my vintage Speedy Pro fills that void. I also have a SS Airking for casual dress. PS, buy and wear whatever you like!!!

Hi, thanks for all replies. I just came back from a 2 days vacation and can only reply now. It's great to find out that still many people my age wearing DJ and I'll not looks oldie. Wearing the Rolex does pump up my self-confidence and like everybody says: the classic looks last forever. I just wonder if the jubilee bracelet will handle tougher wearing condition, eq swimming in the sea or hiking, which may cause the watch contact with hard material. I'm asking this question because of the "fragile" looks of the jubilee bracelet. Thanks again.

I like rocco's black Turn O Graph, but can you tell me what is Turn O Graph? What is the difference from others without Turn O Graph?

Who cares what others think as long and you enjoy wearing it. My first Rolex was a TT DJ but because it was the Rolex to get. I soon realized that I seldom work it because it was too dressy. So I flipped it and got a Sub LV instead. Buy what you like and like what you buy.
