Remember Bark Finish?

I believe that bark finish was supplied by the factory on some old day date watches.

I'm curious if there are any solid sources for a company that can do that same type of work today.

The application would be to find a mentee vintage Day date and then have the barking applied.

I don't care if you like it or not it's not for me it is for a gift so.... I'm with you.

Any jeweler can scratch up and ruin a DD.

heck of a lot easier to simply buy a dd with OEM bark.

http://forums.timezone.com/index.php...=0#msg_7419977

if that isnt helpful i apologize. dont think bark finish is that easy to achieve after market.

One of our Canadian used watch dealers has exactly what you are looking for priced at 17K CAD.

Not my taste personally. Never done business there so cannot speak to his reputation one way or the other. Check out watchfinder.ca..........I find his prices to be unrealistically high........but if you haggle I'm sure you can take advantage of the exchange rate.

I realize that......just suggesting that buying a factory barked piece is an option and IMHO a better choice. Good luck !!

Of course it isn't but if you want to turn a regular bracelet into bark it needs to be engraved.

I thought this photo did a great job of showing what i'm looking to do.

* I'm looking to have the bark finish on the outer links, not the 2 inner links - hence i can't buy one already done pre-created.

My friend has a gold diamond Day-Date with president bracelet with bark finish. He said he paid some $10-15K Canadian some 30 years ago.

While the watch is great, I am not too crazy about it because it is too eye catching. I prefer my low profile SubC.

I have no idea they discontinue the bark finish.

because the barked link is the same size as a normal polished link id be concerned that taking a normal link and "barking" it would reduce its size to an extent....
In saying that i have seen full barked bracelets when i was researching buying mine so there may be a mix of options out there on them

pics of mine for absoloutly no reason

I read once bark was discontinued because of how human labor intensive it was.

Just want to add that his whole bracket is of bark finish. Very flashy.

My wife wears (among others) an OEM DD bark. It really looks great in person. The center links look really special from a distance.

Your friend is pretty careless with the truth.
