Audemars Piguet outdid themselves for 2017 in the ROO collection.

The 2017 SIHH offerings were exceptional and I had to be a part of it.

First off, the new 26401RO subtly overtook the old generation. I was in denial since I owned the previous model. The new RO color scheme just works much better when on the wrist. With the black subdials, the dial itself looks less busy and lets the details really shine especially with the rose accents. The old RO was a hit in photos, but on the wrist it was too much going on.

Was it worth the premium to upgrade to the new RO? Yes absolutely!
If your spending this much money on something, why not spend a bit more instead of settling.

The unexpected star of the show is the 26400IO. I purchased both of these timepieces sight unseen. When I arrived the IO SCREAMED at me. Just like any other Royal Oak, PICTURES DONT DO JUSTICE! The bezel works better with this dial than any other 44mm. The markers, screws on the bezel, and the hands POP on this watch like your wearing 3D glasses.

Comfort and weight balance is perfect which doesn't happen often with the 44mm ROO's. This might be one of the greatest ROO's ever produced IMO.

If you have the funds and have the opportunity to purchase the titanium, I seriously doubt you would ever turn this one down. If you don't have the funds than sell a kidney.

Many many thanks to the AD! Thank you for giving me the opportunity to pick up this double trouble!

Enjoy the pics, I feel super lucky right now to own these pieces! (And if you get the chance to get the IO..... BUY IT NOW!)

In recent photos posted on trf of the latest gold 44 it does look as though the gold colour has become a lot more orange/coppery coloured.

Go look at it in person. It's the same color as the previous RG. I seen them both in person. This is just another post of another converter. The new one just works far better than the old.

The copper/orange complaint is just people who own the previous one looking for something to diminish it.

Though IMO the titanium was kinda boring in person. I thought it was better in pictures than in real life actually. Think I'd still rather get a schumi if someone wants a Ti watch.

TRF pics are highly compressed which makes it look rough and grainy.
Also the depth effects the IO gives off has to be seen in person.

I've compared the old and new 44RG together, and the gold colour is the same. Personally I prefer the old version, as I feel the dial on the new is overall too dark, but that's just a personal preference.

Double congrats, but I can't agree with you on the busyness of the old RG dial, I really like panda dials, think they lend more character, but still I'm thinking of the red GP strap to juice it up a bit more.

The old version was playful..... The new one is far more sinister

I kept telling myself the same thing.... Then I broke down and made the call. It will happen sooner or later my friend.

Agreed with you on the new Ti, strongly disagree with you on the new RG44. Even if I dont own the "older" RG44, I wont buy the new one. I mean the dial is a mess, and all the ascents disappear in a sea of charcoal black. And I have the chance to see and try it multiple times. It doesnt stand out for me.

Actualy, there is nothin "new" about the new RG44. Its the same case, same movement, same design, same everything except the dial. I will stick with the old one, thank you.

Anyway, get what you like. Congrats!

Agreed re the 'old' 44RG. The 44Ti was top of my next list for this year, but I'm now swaying towards the new RO Chronograph in gold with brown dial. Does look very nice indeed.
