Hello,
I'm new here. I would like to purchase a submariner. I feel like preowbed is the way to go. Any advice? What should I pay? |

DavidSW
I just purchased my 5th Rolex from one of our forum vendors/supporters. He ships overnight btw. His web site is davidsw.com And no, I don't get a referral fee. I am simply one of many on this forum that have had excellent service from David.

Very open ended question here. You need to do a little research in the sales section to get an idea of what you like. You're going to get so many different answers here you'll have to start another thread. Put in a little effort and it will pay off.

Sounds like you are just beginning your search.
Yes. Do research. Lots of it. Spend a few months looking at and trying on various models / lots of used to choose from. Look at sellers / reputations... figure out if you are ok buying on line / wiring lots of $$$ to a stranger or buying at a Brick and Mortar. Take your time. |

What's your budget? two tone? SS? PM?
DSW, SohAIS, Takaya, Bodybump, etc... are all great ways to go on this forum. |

I always recommend buying used. Fine a nice one in good condition with all of the boxes and papers, especially the warranty card. If you don't like it, or get bored with it, you can sell it or trade it and not take as big of a bath on it as if you bought new.
Subs hold their value very well. And DavidSW as mentioned is an excellent resource. You can find them cheaper than he'll sell it, but with him there are no questions or worries about authenticity, etc.

I got my LV from takuya http://www.takuyawatches.com he was great. I think most of the trusted sellers here are good, key is to avoid sales tax. saving 6.5-8% right there.

I would definitely go with one of the trusted sellers here. Takuya is my favorite, but I'm sure they are all great

You literally can't pick wrong, but the research and hem and haw is half the fun. I obsessed for about 2 months before I couldn't take it any more and pulled the trigger. Watch youtube reviews too, some interesting characters on there...

Get the 16610LV you can still get for 7k on ebay. The 16610LV is the 50 anniversary edition as well and will go up. I found a 2001 16610 that was hardly worn on craigslist for $3800 and I had the green bezel installed for $140 and was original. The 16610 is very common and does not mean much.

The Sub is a perfect first time rolex. 6-7K is a good budget to get a excellent condition 116610.

You'll love the sub, I prefer the 116610, if you don't want the date it's 114060. For the date you'll pay around $6500 to $7200 (box, papers, all links, near mint). For the no date I just picked one up for $5800 (mint, box, papers, all links, etc) here in the classifieds. I've purchased a couple on the classifieds and have had perfect transactions. Good luck!
