My 1st post and asking for your opinion
Good morning,
I've been a lurker on this forum for a while; today is my 1st post and I'd like to enlist your opinion. After a 14 month wait, I picked up my white face Daytona ceramic this week. Liking it very much over my previous SS bezel Daytona. This is where I'd like your opinion. I'm a two watch guy and always will be. Which watch would you pick as a compliment to the Daytona? Would it be the BLNR, Sub ND or something else? The Daytona will be my Mon through Fri watch, the 2nd watch will be my weekend watch. I like the BLNR with it's dual color bezel, GMT or date means nothing to me. It's the blue-black bezel. Polished links look nice on this watch. Not as common in the wild. I like the no date sub, as the Daytona also doesn't have a date, but I'm not a diver. I would prefer tick marks on the left side of the bezel (but don't want a SD). Non polished links look nice on this watch. Rich in history, but on the wrists of many. So as you can see, this is about how the watch looks and how it will compliment the Daytona, not what else it does other than telling time. I know it's about what sings to me and I like them both, but would love to hear your opinion, especially from new Daytona (white face) owners. What do you have or have bought to compliment your Daytona. It's about the 1 - 2 combo. Should it be the BLNR or the Sub no date (or something else)? Thanks in advance for your opinion! |

Congrats on the D500, and sounds like you prefer the BLNR which is a perfect foil for it.

I'd go BLNR since it has a good WR rating and the GMT function. You never know when one of those "weekends" will involve water activities another time zone. Plus, the multi color bezel adds some flair that you don't get with an all black model.

first of all, congratulations.
2nd, how the hell did you manage to get yours hands on one? I don't own a daytona and still hoping to get one but i always said if had to chose 2 watches it will be the Daytona and SD43. You know, the save sophisticated Daytona with the rugged indestructible sea dweller |

The BLNR would be a really nice complement to your Daytona. I would also be looking at the Sub LV "Hulk" as it has a more rugged feel than the GMT (all brushed bracelet, deeper WR, etc.) plus a very different look with the green dial and bezel. If you're willing to look outside the Rolex family, I would also strongly recommend the Blancpain Bathyscaphe series -- beautiful and rugged timepieces that are different from what everyone else is wearing...

I've thought about the SD43 and am next on the list, but thought it might be too large in comparison to the Daytona. |

I'd go sub.
Every collection needs a sub, it's the quintessential sports watch. Congrats and welcome!

As the Daytona will be the Monday - Friday watch, i'll say anything goes on the weekend. I am not of the fan on black dial sub but the hulk is pretty cool if you want something a bit playful.

A Sub (dated or otherwise) would be my pick. White dial during the weekdays, black dialed Sub to kick off the weekend. Or if you're feeling frisky, try the 214270 Explorer. Either way, good luck with your journey! Pics when you can. |

I think a sub with date would be perfect. Your Daytona already has the Pcl's and no date so they would go perfectly together. Two iconic piece's.

I don't see the significance of the size of the Daytona vs. the size of your weekend watch. If they both fit your wrist and your eye, that's all that matters.

Sub Date, this gives you a date complication. Hulk is alway a good choice for the more adventurous.

You couldn't go wrong with a sub or BLNR...however, I'd give the new Explorer a look as well.

Yes, I think a blnr might be too much. You will already have pcl's on the Daytona. Something brushed. A sub would be great, or an expII for a bit of a size change

If we're just talking about looks..I'd say blnr because it's more unique. Subs are popular but also means you tend to see it more in the wild...I think you should pick since it's personal at the end of the day because complication is out of the equation...congrats on the Daytona.

If you need the GMT function, it's a no brainer

A Sub or Explorer would go great with the Daytona.

An addition that has a fully brushed bracelet is good advice. But if you really want a BLNR you could always get a Rubber B or Everest strap for it.

I just picked up my white dial DaytonaC a couple of weeks ago, and am already thinking about my next purchase! If you like the BLNR, how about the Pepsi GMT? You could also source the coke bezel for versatility. I too was thinking about the BLNR (and may still get it someday), but already thinking the blue/black bezel may eventually get boring.
