What an unbelievable thing to wake up to! It is a good day for us watch nuts even though most of us cannot afford to bid.

I say it will go for $12M

ugh ugh ugh, you didn't say the magic word...

The condition of that watch looks like it has been really enjoyed over the years and seen a lot of sun. it's going to go for a fortune no doubt.

I love the backstory. So cool. My guess is it is by far the most expensive Daytona ever sold. 10-12-15 million...

Pretty sure that's an old pic. Provenance is there. My guess is $12-$15m, I just hope the buyer puts it on display somewhere, even for limited periods of time.

and to think when it was bought for him by his wife - it was not a popular model or a big seller.

Wow this is the watch that got me into vintage watches probably 10 to 12 years ago, even though I'm just now able to afford them & recently got my 1st vintage Gmt because now the Daytona is out of my range .

Very cool Mistral.

Funny the way Newman just gave the watch away - especially when his wife had bought it for him and had it engraved.
Seems he was not attached to things.

The seller is donating the proceeds to Newman's daughter's charity. Wow that is karma for several generations.

I said possible 'bidder'!

In reality, there are really only a few collectors that will have the desire + deep enough pockets to place the winning bid. Adam will not be one of them.

But it would be pretty cool to be driving a Paul Newman racecar wearing his Daytona.

Watches, wine, cars, beanie babies...Different strokes.

If had the pockets, I would bid to win.

But, then again I like Daytonas!

I bet Ellen bids. She has the cash and loves vintage models. I know she already has a PN, but not thee PN.
