Would you go?

So there is a local AD that I frequented probably 4-5 times trying on watches. Decided what I wanted and attempted to buy it there for a decent price and was turned down, they were MSRP +tax only for the sports models.

I ended up going to an AD a short drive away and got the watch I wanted at a great price, even better than what I offered to pay at the first AD. So I bought it and had a great experience at this second AD out of town.

Now, this first AD is having an event this weekend that sounds really fun. I got the email invite. It's watches, whiskey, food, and exotic cars...all things I love. I want to go! But I know I'll run into the salesperson I worked with and they'll notice my nice new Sub that I bought from a different AD.

So....go or don't go?

Go and don't wear the watch if it bothers you. But they can't blame you for taking a better deal.

Absolutely go. And if they ask, tell them you purchased at another AD at a price you wanted.

Certainly go and enjoy all those fun things. Wear your new watch and enjoy it! It's a business and you don't have to feel bad at all.

My opinion is you gave them first option and they declined you. Wear the watch and go, If it comes up be honest and maybe they will realize what it takes to earn your future business. It would be a different story had you just window shopped them with no intent to purchase.

This is what I would do. They can't get mad at you because someone else was willing to work with you.

Go enjoy their free drink and food. If you see the salesperson and your new watch comes up just let him know that you found a better deal. You can always talk packers

I'd go and wear the watch and have it in full view of the salesman.

Totally agree, be polite and be friendly and make it clear that they are your first AD of choice but if the second AD can lower his price, so should they. Any business welcomes market intelligence from a good potential customer.

I probably won't feel comfortable going there with my new watch and enjoying the freebies in their marketing event if they did not get my business after several recent visits and answering all my questions, and knowing that they won't be able to match the competitor'a prices for my future purchase (due to higher overhead expense or other reasons). That's just me though. Like many here have posted, it doesn't bother them, so it's all up to you on how you feel about it.

If I already bought from them before and they did not get my recent business then I can still go there and not feel like I'm wasting their time and resources. I'd put myself in the business owner's or salespeople's shoes. I'm sure they'll be nice to you and still accommodate you, but for me it just doesn't feel right interacting with them with my new watch and knowing that they don't stand a chance against the competitors' prices.

There is no right or wrong answer here. It all depends on how you feel about it.

I would not tweak the first AD staff by wearing the new watch. They might fuss to Rolex and get the second AD in trouble.

You've never bought a watch from them and are invited to an event?

Think for sure they will be upset you bought elsewhere, but at least you've shown you're a serious buyer so try to work with them on your next purchase and give them an idea of what you might like

I would go and wear the watch. They got first look at the deal and lost on price. It's always been a little annoying to me that AD's will not deal. In this day and age how many times do you really have to pay MSRP if you're willing to do a little shopping. Remember the old business adage, "pigs get fat, hogs get slaughtered."

I would definitely go, and make sure they saw my new purchase, I would be upfront and honest if a sales representative noticed, and say I was out to get the best deal and that their store did not give that. It's your money, get the most out of your hard earned cash!

I would go and wear my new watch. If the subject comes up then be direct but polite and tell them that you purchased it at another AD after they would not deal with you. I would not say which AD as it is not any business of the AD who would not deal. This sets you up as a legitimate buyer not just a tire kicker. They are local and you want to be able to go see other items at will and wear your watch. This is business not personal. Go, have fun and tell the AD that next time you buy that you hope it will be from them. But, that is up to them.
