Looking to purchase from davidSW. Advice please

Hi, I am looking to purchase from DavidSW very soon, here from AUS. I will be getting a hulk. Problem it is $600AU above retail including the bank currency conversion (3%), shipping and exchange rate.

In your opinion should I pay the extra for the hulk and get the watch early next week, or wait for my name to get called on the list (i'm on the list for all the local watch shops in Brisbane). I always thought paying was above retail was a foolish move, but am actually considering it.

Would the hulk be worth the extra cash or should i wait it out with my SubC date & polar 40mm explorer ii.

Kind regards, Cloitus.

You will get a great watch from David.
I suggest you get it now...
Or if you want to wait for an indefinite period and don't mind that level of uncertain then you should wait.
Just remember there may be a price increase at your AD when they finally give you the call that they have the watch for you.

Wait it out! I would never pay above MSRP for any watch imo. Good luck.

If it's worth $600 to have it now, then yes

I don't know how long the wait may be in Australia. If the wait could potentially be a year or more, then I personally would pay it to get it sooner. The premium you have calculated is not the same as thousands for a Daytona which I wouldn't pay myself.

If you are financially in the position to purchase a luxury watch, I'm not sure why $600 would even be a speedbump in making the purchase to get the watch you love now.

Cheers for the responses guys. For myself it's not really about the money as $600 is not a deal breaker. I guess it's more the principle side of things which is giving me second thoughts.

I would wait. Buying grey and above list is "foolish", as you call it, IMHO.
But then again, I wouldn't even pay list, not even for a well sought after SS.
And since you have 2 nice ones already, I don't see the point stretching yourself just to have it in your hands a few weeks/months earlier.
Good luck!

Thank you, it just so happens to be one of my grails. Not a fan of the hulk?

I'd ask DavidSW to split the difference.

I have already asked, unfortunately he has no room to move on the price.

David is one of the best on here, and one of my main source.

But if you can wait, I say wait it out.

David will have a hulk available if you can't wait any longer.

If not, the other TDs like "Takuya" another one of my sources, is also Outstanding!

Presuming you have import tax, it would then not be worth it or any risks you are taking.

People are always so eager to spend other peoples money. You have a couple great watches already, I would be patient and appreciate what you have a little longer.

Just a thought, maybe take a vacation to the US, and visit Florida, and while your there, see DavidSW in Orlando...then you get to wear the new piece home!

From Australia, much easier/cheaper to take a vacation in Doha/Dubai. Save a few thousand from DSW prices, and DOH has them in stock all the time.

I'm not real adept at waiting so I would pay the vig which is peanuts compared to what the DaytonaC is commanding

And get a free holiday as well from what you save.

I'd never pay over list, would feel robbed and kills the enjoyment of a new watch

Nice, do you know how they are priced in Dubai? My girlfriend lives over there, so will be visiting soon anyway
