Is the SD43 the next KING?
I received my SD43 a couple of days ago and I'm mesmerized by the perfection! Rolex NAILED IT! Don't get me wrong the Submariner respectfully Wears the "crown" in the sports line up right now but I have a feeling we have a new king emerging. At first I thought the 43mm increase would be too big but NO! They absolutely NAILED IT! Please Post your pictures of the next red KING if you have one and please have a great Father's Day weekend everyone!

It's King for me and my collection at the moment, but I'm a Sea Dweller fan in general. Not sure the rest of the world will agree... But I think it will attract many people who want a bigger Rolex that isn't the Deep Sea.

Agreed - they got this one very right. And this is from someone who was never an SD fan.
Congrats - it looks great on you

I'm trying my hardest to look away. But I think I'll have to put my name down soon.

I think the sub will always be king, but the red Sd43 is a great watch.

It's the King for me for now...until they put the next generation 3235-variant movement in an updated GMT. GMT-Master III. 41mm case, 70-hr power reserve, true Pepsi red/blue Cerachrome bezel, Glidelock clasp. Then...

I think the Submariner will always be king due to it's heritage and market penetration, however the SD43 is certainly a fine watch which will appeal to those craving something similar in a bigger well proportioned package. I'm amazed how quickly Rolex is getting these to the ADs and not like the 2+ year wait for a DaytonaC. May you all wear your SD43's in good health. Cheers!

In steel? Be a good race but that GMT would probably be the prince to the SD King for me

I hear you. And until my GMT dreams are fulfilled, the SD43 will rule the roost. But what makes the concept more compelling for me is the second time zone function. Of far greater practical value to me than 4,000 ft depth rating.

Agree... Sub will prob always be "king". SD is a niche watch and will always be. While i appreciate the design of the new SD, it isn't for most. And not surprised at all that ADs have been getting their hands on them. SD has never been a big seller for Rolex so I don't think they will restrict quantities like w the Daytona C. If I were in the market for a diver, and I was dead set on buying from the current catalogue, then I'd choose the SD43 in a heartbeat. I like the shape of the case on the new SD better than the current Sub/Sub Date, and IMHO the Deep-Sea is comically large.

This is what Rolex wanted. It was the only way to raise prices. They tried with the sd4k but the difference in price between the sub and the sd4k was not justified. So they were selling way below MSRP.
If you want the "New Sub", you are going to have to pay the price increase. |

Congrats to all of the new owners. Haven't seen it in person yet but looks like Rolex nailed the proportions. Too bad it's too big for me
