I went to the Tumi dealer here in Dublin today, am looking for a new leather backpack (will sell my current one cheap to any TRFer if anyone wants it), the selection was extremely disappointing and the staff incredibly rude!

Paul is actually a great guy. And Tumi makes great luggage. No complaints with either.

Quick question. Went to a Tumi Outlet store. Are the products in there the same as the regular stores or are they made specifically for the outlets?

They are not the same products. Quality is good but they have some differences like some of their products can't be monogrammed.

Exactly. Alex described it perfectly. My leather backpack is an outlet, it is an excellent piece but there are subtle differences and I decided I want to get the top of the line store model.

Tumi outlet : Tumi :: Tudor: Rolex

Similar but different. Both have their place and fall within to their respective hierarchy.

OK, so maybe I still blame Paul but can see what the hype is about.
Very sturdy, well thought out and constructed luggage.
I guess more to come eventually.

Nice. I have a mix of both the Alpha 1 and Alpha 2. I think with the small design tweaks the Alpha 2 is the winner to me at least.

Any of you guys have Tumi wallets? Are they as solid as the luggage?

Sorry to hijack the thread.

Thank you guys.
I swear I now know what the hype is about.
I had seen them at my local mall's Tumi store but for some reason, didn't strike me at the time.
I guess after so many posts by Paul, I figured either he is nuts or he is on to something.
Good thing I didn't consider Jocke's posts about Paul in my assesment.

Great pickup! I'm sure it will last a long time. I'd also be interested in your old Tumi bag shall you sell Paul.
