Little trip to Oregon
Me and the girlfriend decided to head to Oregon for the few days we had off to make our way up the coast and of course, as per my request, hit the watch shops in Portland. I told the guy at Alex & Co that I had never even seen a Patek in the flesh, so he promptly pulled out what i believe was a 5120G and let me try it on... amazing.
My explorer was in the water (freezing), the sand, and in the woods with me... and looking good the whole way! No pic of the Patek... I was too in awe |

Enjoy your trip Aaron. The Explorer looks great no matter the environment.

nice man. I was out in PDX a couple of months ago. There was one store I remember right in the middle of downtown that was legit. It might have been Alex and Co. I went around some of the vintage jewelry shops but didnt see much.
Great pics. |

Is that 2nd pic in Oswald West park?
I like browsing in Alex's shop. Everyone is very nice there and you can tell they are really into watches. Their prices seem pretty high, but I don't know how much they are willing to negotiate. Enjoy OR. Pick up a watch or two tax free! |

Little trip to Oregon
Oregon is tax free. Could be a good deal buying there. Heading to visit family in Bend this summer.

Got my Explorer from Packouz in Portland...couldn't have been better service. I had actually just jumped in the car one night after work and decided to just drive to Portland (5 hours away) to get the watch... Long story short, I packed nothing, pricelined a hotel on the way, Packouz happened to be right next door to my hotel but they weren't the AD I called to see if the watch was in stock. The next morning I stumble in with my coffee and bought my first Rolex in sweatpants because I was too excited to remember to pack any real clothes ... Check them out...and Alex's was amazing as well.

While I was on business trip to Oregon, I bought a Tudor Black Bay Black ETA version at Ben Bridge in Washington Square 2 weeks ago. They had one set (red, blue and black) of ETA version...Only in house movement one is bronze . Very interesting. I was very surprised to see a black ETA one and took it.
Although it has ETA 2824, it's more accurate than my BLNR... |

Probably Packouz on broadway. They are a great store. I wouldn't give Alex and co. a penny of my hard earned $. Nor will most of the WIS community here. One would think they would be interested in fostering relationships with the local watch buying/collecting community. My experience has been quite the opposite. If anyone wants to know more, feel free to pm me.

And no sales tax in Oregon!! Packouz folks are very nice. Had nothing but good experiences there. Bought my wife a Cartier at Ben Bridge downtown--also a Rolex AD-- and they were great to deal with as well. Alex Watchworks is an AD for Omega. They had a C21 watchmaker there who I really liked who has struck out on his own to do restorations and custom work.

OP, glad you got to make it to our neck of the woods! You picked a great time of the year to come. As has already been said, Packouz is top notch. I gotten a couple of pieces from them. I'll will plead the fifth on Alex at Watchworks though.
The CW21 (and WOSTEP) certified watchmaker you mentioned is a great guy and a very good watchmaker. He's the only guy in the area that I allow to open one of my watches. By the way, nice Explorer and great shots! |

What does the girlfriend say when you stop every 15 minutes to take a picture of your watch?
I wish you'd taken one of the Patek... oh well.
