Iso 126600

Newbie here. So first off, hello all. Nice to find a treasure trove such as TRF.

I know it's not for everyone, but I'm personally smitten with the 126600 and can't wait to get one. I want to buy directly from an AD but I've never gone through this waiting game before with a just-released piece. Is it really just a matter of getting on my local AD's list (which I've already done) and waiting for them to call? Feels like I could be more proactive somehow. Pre-order or something.

Also, is there any way of knowing how many of these are going to hit the market or it's a total guess at this point?

Sorry if these are dumb questions. Like I said, I'm a newb.

Yeah, we're kind of crazy here. People beg Rolex to take their thousands of dollars waiting for their piece to come in. Demand is high but so is Rolex incompetence at supplying their stores.

Gotta wait it out!

I was worried that was the answer.

Well, thanks for confirming. I'll be over here, waiting impatiently.

Welcome Bob

I wholeheartedly agree, it's a fantastic reference

If I were you, I'd call around to different ADs to see if they have one in stock. It's a long shot but you never know

I'm really wanting to give a specific saleswoman at one of the local AD's here the business, which is why I haven't called any others. This particular lady got the fun job of delivering me the news that my Sub was fake. Well, she very kindly used the word "replica." This was a gift from a "friend" who was repaying a long-overdue loan, mind you. Had it for 2 years and one day the date stopped working. Brought it in to have it serviced and it took them all of 60 seconds to pop off the back and see that it was not a legit movement. She could've tried to talk me into buying something then and there, or made me feel dumb for having brought in a fake, but she was so sweet and so sympathetic. She kept saying "oh you poor thing - I'm so sorry." She even told me "it fooled me and I sell these things - it really is a beautiful watch." I left there knowing when the funds were in the bank it would be her who would get the sale.

You're on track there.

Two things to consider to move it along.
Keep in touch by going in and asking how it's going, and more importantly pay a deposit to really push it along.

The process is not that bad and the wait is also a blessing as long as you are the patient type

Makes sense you'd want to deal with her

She should be able to answer timing as the watch now seems to be popping up at AD's in the US. Good luck

Thanks for all the replies - really appreciate your guys' input. I posted in the How many of us are still waiting on their SD 43 thread last night: I called my local AD and had a nice chat with a guy who's worked there for 10 years. He said if I put a deposit down they'll have way more ammo to get the mother ship to send one as soon as one becomes available. And when it comes in, it's mine. So tomorrow [now today] a deposit I shall make.

Also found out in that conversation that they don't get commission, so I'm a little less concerned with buying directly from her, but I do plan on writing a nice letter, or at the very least having a face-to-face conversation with her boss to let him/her know why I'm buying from their store.

The friend has unfortunately dropped off the face of the earth, which really sucks. Friendships shouldn't end over money. When I got the bad news I txt'd him pretty much immediately. His reply: "Strange. I haven't heard from the guy I got that from in years." And that was it. Two weeks later I wrote him back: "So what do we do about this little situation of ours?" He replied immediately: "This SITUATION of ours??" And then went on to blast me for being a complete a**hole. I was blown away. This is someone I thought of as a good friend. I'll spare you all the back and forth, but it ended with me assuring him it wasn't about the money, but if roles were reversed I'd be doing everything within my power to make it right, which was something he didn't appear to be concerned with. He said, "You'll get your f***ing money. Don't you worry." I told him to use whatever money he could scrape together to buy a plane ticket and come visit me in Cali - "Let's chill on my deck in the redwoods for a weekend and catch up over a nice bottle of bourbon." Never heard back.

Good story about the fake watch and I can understand you wanting to give the sales person the business. But this is not a new Sub or Date Just sitting in inventory. I would go in and have a real conversation with her and tell her why you want the watch from her. She seems like a straight shooter and should be able to give you a feel about how long the wait will be. If you are more than a few months out I would thank her and tell here you would like to stay on the list. Then get on the phone and start calling. There are a lot of AD's in the U.S. and you will find one in stock. Buy it and have it shipped to you. Call the sales lady back, get off the list and when it is time for another go see her.

Depends on how many your AD gets and how long the wait list is. These won't be like the Daytona, little bit of patience and you'll have one soon.

Crazy how this works. I was in my favorite local small AD enforce the 116500's came out. Maybe fall of 15'? They had SS Daytona's, Seadwellers, BLNR Gmt everything I was shocked. Because they are always such hot pieces. but you go to larger AD's that everyone knows about & all they have is full gold models & every date just in the world!!! Try some different places let them know your serious and get on a few different lists. If you want it sooner you can buy from trusted sellers on here for a small premium. Still amazed that SS new Daytona's are selling for well over list over a year later!!

Be patient and keep the lines of communication open with your AD...it will happen soon enough.

Update: just called all 7 AD's in the Bay Area and they all have lists going but most only take your name if you're in their system, which means physically going into the store (they're trying to feel people out to avoid selling to random folks who are just going to turn around and sell it for a profit). One place got 2 in earlier this week and the 2nd one sold yesterday. I also called the AD I talked to last night in hopes of putting a deposit down, but got a different answer this time; this guy (who does all their ordering) said they won't take a deposit when they have no idea when the watch will come in - that it wouldn't be right to do so. But he assured me I'll get a call when the next batch comes in.

Got a lot of attitude when I put my name in with our local AD's when I told them I was looking for a new SD50. Although I have done a lot of business over the years with one of the shops, my salesperson had left and the new guy did not have a sense that I was serious. I was told that if I put down a 50% deposit, I might be able to get one this Fall.

Nonsense! I emailed several ADs in Italy about my plans to be there in June and went to the shops when I got there. No love in either Rome or Florence, but when I got to one small town AD, it just happened that the new SeaDweller had arrived that very day! Paid promptly and paid full asking price, which luckily already included the 22% VAT. Filed for this back and received $1700 on my VISA within 4 days. Declared the watch at US Customs and paid a few hundred dollars in duty to keep my Global Entry in good standing.

So all in, the watch cost me around $10,500, which is a much better deal than I would have paid at the local AD. Will take my old GMT-II in for a servicing and see what they say about the new watch. Feels awfully good after the way I was treated like a poor cousin.

Posted this over here, but figured I'd close this thread out with the good news. Got one last night at an AD here in the Bay Area. Absolutely love it. It oozes glory. Doesn't feel too chunky for a daily wear to me.

Congrats! I'm also from the Bay Area and while on a road trip in the Pacific Northwest I put down a deposit yesterday on the SD50 at my favorite AD here in Oregon. No sales tax and a little discount off MSRP saves me quite a bit as opposed to buying in the Bay Area. Now the waiting starts...

Good deal. Very easy to get with a slight bit of searching.

The AD with long list quotes just don't want to do business with you..or a new client on this reference. That's fine. You moved on and found one.

Welcome and congrats Bob. Great looking watch.

As I began to read your post, I said to myself, thank God you're not looking for the DaytonaC.

Glad you found your watch.
