Need opinion on Daytona

Hi guys,

I received a call from my AD asking if I am interested in a Daytona TT Arabic blue dial watch for an "adjustment". Anyway, I wanted a white dial SS Daytona but they don't have one right now.

Should I wait for the SS or jump and take the "adjusted" price of the TT Daytona?

A picture is inserted for reference.

Unless the adjustment is "free", I'd spend your money on what you really want rather than what's currently available.

Buy exactly and only what you want. Don't get it just because it's available.

Unless, of course, you want it. It is a nice watch. But TT watches are best purchased used.

I would not buy that watch. There is no comparison to the SS steel white Daytona IMO

I prefer SS over TT although this model is not bad. I have my SS white dial since 2013 and it's really gorgeous. I'd wait if I were you except if they're selling you for $5000

I really like the blue dial and the arabic numerals but not a big fan of TT gold or the yellow gold bezel. That is my preference. Honestly it looks a bit old fashioned to me -- nothing wrong with that but my 2c.

Wait for the one you really want. You'll eventually end up purchasing the one that really sings to you.

I agree. Love the blue dial and numerals. I think it would look pretty awesome on a SS model with maybe a black ceramic bezel.

Wait for what you want, you'll love it more in the long run. Sort of like the vacations you plan and look forward to verses jumping on a plane for a weekend in Vegas. It doesn't mean each one isn't great, just different feelings.

Wait for the one you want unless the deal is a no brainer

Yes I say wait for the one you want but I can't understand the hate factor against T/T. I purchased a T/T 116503 White Dial With Gold Sub Dials & I love it. I know that I'm in the minority

Enjoy going against the grain. It's the cheaper way to enjoy watches.

Alright guys. Thanks for the feedback. Gonna wait for now. I believe I am next when they get one anyway. I believe the deal was going to be 30% off retail, which ends up being lower than the retail of a SS model. I typically like TT but the blue and Arabic was throwing me off.

But yes, I will just wait for the other one.

I'd take the massage but stay on for the ceramic Daytona.

That would be tempting for that much of a discount, especially if you already have the black dial ceramic. That blue dial is pretty.

That's a beautiful watch. I almost bought a BNIB from this very forum a while back. The price was the same as a SS retail. In the end I couldn't scrape the funds together. A few weeks later I got the call for the white ceramic Daytona so the universe worked for me in my favor. I actually tried on the TT Daytona at an AD and didn't think it looked quite as good in person. Especially because the soft gold of the bezel was already showing a ton of scratches and dings, and this was an unsold "new" watch. I do still feel a slight twinge of longing when I see pics of it though.

Can you send me info? At 30% from an AD I would take it. Thanks.

I actually think that's a nice Daytona. Never seen that one. Much more unique than the white ceramic if that matters to you at all.

Exactly, hence my dilemma. But ultimately people are right. If it's not my #1 choice then I shouldn't get it.

Attached is the actual pic. SA's must've been shaking. So pardon the blurry pic, but you get the idea. I think this is old stock and hasn't moved for a while...

I would take both and sell the one that doesn't make my heart pitter patter.

I would hold out for the White dial. Don't settle for what's available.

No way. Offer them Monopoly money instead of real currency for the D5. Sounds like an attempt to manage the list

Its a nice dial on the TT but it is a poor decision to go with this, a one sided deal to the AD's favour

Someone told me a long time ago to never settle...that certainly applies when you're spending large amounts of money, I would wait for the one you put yourself on the list in the first place. After all, you chose the SS white dial in the first place for a reason(s) didn't you?

You are correct. I did waive the opportunity to get the TT. AD said they sold it a few mins after I made my decision and declined.

It's my opinion that the Daytona you are waiting on is worth waiting for.

Patience is a virtue, you did the right thing imho, get what you want, not what they want you to have. Best of luck, and may your wait be a short one.
