15400 vs SubC Date Size?

Question to those who own both.....how does the 15400 compare in actual 'wearable' size to the ceramic Submariner date? I know the SubC is 40mm, and the 15400 is 41mm, but I would think the Sub wears/looks larger due to the bezel and extended lugs?

Any help would be great (and pictures even better)!

No I think the Sub wears smaller with the bracelet being narrower than the case. It allows someone with a small wrist to wear it even if the watch head is as wide as the wrist.

The design of the AP bracelet does not allow the bracelet to form right angles with the case to fit around a small wrist.

Hopefully this helps. 7" flat wrist. I'd say very similar except the sub wears thicker and the RO wears a bit longer lug to lug.

sub wears smaller. I own a GMT and it wears smaller than a 15400 for sure. To me, visually a sub and GMT wear virtually the same.

Either a sub or a GMT feel small to me and 15400 does not.

The 15400 wears much larger than the extra 1mm would suggest. I would compare it's 'size' feel as being closer to my 44-45mm watches than the 40mm sub in fact.

Sub definitely wears smaller, granted I guess it's a hair thicker but the 41mm RO wears like a real 43mm. Both work GREAT though for a 6.9-8.5 inch wrist.

I know I'm a lil wack-a-doo, but, idt the 15400 wears big at all... Certainly not 43 or 45mm big. It wore almost as small as my Daytona, prolly due to its lack of thickness.

Depends...if you get the white-dialed version it will wear larger because there is much less contrast between the dial and bezel, which gives appearance of being larger, while the black or blue dialed version will wear smaller due to the contrast (try wearing a black Daytona/Explorer II followed immediately by a white one to see what I'm talking about).

The area of the case is definitely larger on the 15400, as is the lug-lug width, it's good-sized watch and wears on the larger side, though not quite up in PAM territory. I'd say it wears a good 1-2 mm larger than it is, though I've got the white-dialed version and would have a different opinion on the darker-dialed versions.

15400 vs SubC Date Size?

Not even close. 15400 wears significantly larger. That's in part because it is larger, but also because it is not styled as a sport watch (at least not compared to a sub). It's thinner, flashier, more metal and less color. I'd say a 39mm RO still wears larger than a sub, and the 15400 is bigger than that.

You might've missed the word closer. Never said it wears the same but it does wear closer to my 44-45mm watches than the Sub at 40mm.

Finally saw one in the flesh.....my oh my the 15400 Silver is quite the looker. You definitely have to see in person to appreciate them, these static pictures online don't detail them appropriately.

And yes, definitely was wrong in my original assumption, the 15400 for certain wears larger than a SubC.

This. Was the same thing for me: few photos can do them justice, although there are some notable exceptions, like Ben's, which is what got my interest up in the first place.

Yes. The darker dialed versions will appear smaller, but the white dialed version has quite the wrist presence. Surface area of the watch is definitely larger than the SubC, though.
