Bombardier make a nice jet. In the early '00s I flew regularly between Phoenix and Fresno. The jet was 2x2 seating with a center aisle, and very nice. Being brand new probably helped my impression.

Thanks for the share! Amazing plane. However I'd never buy one even if I could. My father always said the only way he'd fly private is if he could afford a 737 that was maintained by a major airline and flown by commercial pilots. It seems there are so many small plane crashes. I'd imagine you need to be a billionaire many times over to afford that!

Crashes are at the lowest ever !

Than you definitely need a BBJ and a few ATP rated pilots

And some cash . . .

My limited knowledge tells me that most plane crashes are owner owned , pilot error.... so you really need to trust your pilot.

I'm guessing on a private plane the environment is completely different..such that maybe the plane owner becomes friendly with their regular pilot and he becomes too relaxed, or there is drinking or rowdiness in the plane that distracts the pilot. Very different from a commercial plane where the pilots are behind a 1 foot thick locked door

In other words quite a few factors many of them avoidable

If you guys ever want to charter anything we have NVJets here at LAS with private terminal right off Tropicana Road across from MGM and has a private entrance

Lear 31A, Lear 60 and the 4 seat baby Embraer Phenom 100 that goes 405Kn great for a quick jump to San Francisco and back. 4 of you could easily do this from here, have dinner and be back in 5-6 hours.

And agree that any mishaps are usually pilot related. Safest way to get anywhere. The jet engine amazes me to this day as does all things that keep a plane in the air.

Watch a you tube video on The workings of a jet engine and it's quite interesting

Have to agree modern planes seem to be nearly as reliable as a toaster. Unfortunately under the rarest of circumstances, 5 or more things go wrong in a row, almost always including pilot error, and that's very fast at certain altitudes.

ill stick to business class and first class on a normal airline..... cheaper in the long run i think and they wont let me in the cockpit to have a go(if i owned a plane then they wouldn't have a choice ) which is prob a good thing.... ever since seeing Top Gun ive had the urge to do a flyby lol!

The cost of ownership of a full size business jet is pretty wild

There's cost of capital -- as a lowball, we can use the current 10 year US treasury yield, and that's still over 1.6 million per year. But you're not just parking your 73 million, right? It's a depreciating asset. Counting depreciation and other costs (fuel, maintenance, etc.) I'd think total ownership would be over 5 million per year if actually using the plane. 100K+ per week
