Icon20 "End of Production" Models - Japan

Hello!

I am looking into buying a Rolex (Submariner) in Japan (Tokyo) on a trip I have coming up.

I have noticed that some models are marked as "End of Production" units.

As I am quite new to the more geeky world of Rolexes, I am not sure what this exactly means and haven't been able to find any articles about it either.

Could anyone please explain what "End of Production" actually means and if there is anything to be especially aware of when buying such a watch.

One thing is that the price is obviously a bit lower than the "standard" watches, but they are still described as brand new with warranty and certificates.

See example here (use Chrome and auto-translation): http://www.jackroad.co.jp/shop/g/grx363/

Thanks!!

Think that's how the Japanese say "discontinued"? Btw I was there in march and didn't win the auction for a zenith SS Daytona inverted 6 ....

Maybe. I just find it odd that the price is that much lower compared to the current models...

Why? Market price for 14060's is probably 30% cheaper than 114060's I would say (apart from in the UK anyway).

New for new or mint/unpolished to mint/unpolished? You're absolutely wrong.

Sorry, I'm quite new to the difference between serial no.'s etc.

Why are 14060's less desirable than other models?

Thanks,

They're not. It's all personal preference. Try this link to help you.

For many the five digit models are more desirable than the current models.
