My First Rolex
Hello everyone, So first things first.. i had no idea these things had a forum for them lol. I didnt think it was this serious.. but i have found alot of info on here from looking in the past few weeks. Im used to car forums, im a member of many online.(Audi, Corvette, Lamborghini, Hellcat, GTR, Motoworld).
I just recently purchased the date just 2. I dont plan on wearing it too much because it has a little too much "bling" for an everyday watch. So since that is the case, ive been hearing that i need a winder? i have had the watch stop on me once so far.. I was looking to buy the Orbita Sparta 2 winder. Is there some setting that i have to set it to? I was reading something about a RPD? Thanks for all the help and i look foward to chatting it up with everyone! |

It's just a simple Date function watch...no need for a winder. If it stops, give it 20 winds with the crown, adjust date and time, and go.

There's a clutch in the movement that disengages before damage.

Congrats, remember these things are automatic. So, the more walking and wrist movement you do the less you'll have to wind it. If it "dies" on you, just give it 40 turns and set the time and date and you'll be back in business.
It has a 48 hour power reserve, so if it's gonna sit for more than that you'll need to wind it.

but i come home and wear it in the house everyday so it doesn't die. But now i know i don't need to do that either and just let it die. I'm probably only going to take it out on the weekends with my other weekend toys :) |

Unlike the car forums you're on, you won't find too many members here that will be a fan of anything aftermarket on a Rolex. Especially since it voids a warranty and an RSC would remove it if you sent the watch in for service. Congrats on the new watch though!
And as far as winders are concerned, you can buy one that will suffice on Amazon for around $150. I would suggest it if the watch won't be worn regularly.

You seem to like cars, so I guess the following will speak for itself.. This is what an in-house Rolex technician once told me: "your watch on a watch winder? Do you put your car on the treadmill, once your home from the office every night or for the weekend"?
Especially when the watch isn't worn regularly it would be a pity to put it on a winder all the time.. ..unless you'd like to have it serviced every 5 years despite not wearing it a lot of course Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk |
