same thing happened to me when the 4000 came out.

I was in a AD trying on a panerai when the AD mentioned the sea dweller was coming out.

his face was a picture when he worked out that he had just lost the sale.

You probably won't need to go on a list.

Just call around to some smaller, rural Rolex AD and they will more than likely have one in stock at this point.
