Sub durability

I have a question about the durability of my sub.
I ordered an 116610 from thanh a few months ago in April. It's been a daily wearer for me, to work, out, wherever.
I try and avoid any contact with it to avoid as many scratches and blemishes as possible. But I'm noticing a few. I thought this 904 stainless was virtually indestructible? So is this thing the real deal or what. Because I know the replicas use a softer inferior stainless. I've not yet had it authenticated because I've taken the good word of the many trusted members here.
So can someone help me out and explain the expectations?

because your watch simply has surface marks on it...........after wearing it every day for 3 months......you are beginning to think that one of the most trusted sellers here on TRF sold you a fake?

904L contains more nickel and chromium, and better corrosion point view. But, is less hardener than 316L and in plus that less bilogicaly neutral for pepole alergic to the Nikel. I think....

If you got it from Thanh it's real, I promise.

All metal will scratch. Why would you think otherwise?

Don't worry about authenticity if you bought from Thanh. If you want to collect less scratches just be more careful. I don't baby my watches and they all look pristine.

It's a tool watch. Scratches come with the territory.

904 stainless steel is not indestructible and will pick up scratches and dings. This is normal - don't worry. The advantage of 904 steel is that it's easy for Rolex to polish out the scratches when they service the watch. Perhaps this is what's confused you

The only watch that does not scratch is the one you keep in the safe and never wear

If your Submariner doesn't have scratches or dings after wearing it everyday, you are not living my friend.

If that thing came from Thanh - It is the real deal. As trustworthy as they come.

The durability of a sub is measured in lifetimes. However, it will scratch, nick and dent, as any other object crafted from any metal existing on this planet.

You know what hasn't been known to scratch, nick and dent? Thanh's reputation.

904 stainless steel is a bit softer but polishes better than any other steel. Its a trade off but 904L is by far the brightest SS steel on the market.

I have a gold ring, it will last me a lifetime, it still has scratches all over it.

Think of it this way, if you bought a new BMW and after three months it had a few scratches on it, would you be wondering if it was a fake or any less of a car.

Sturdy yes, scratchproof no. Try not to lose any sleep over it.

Would you expect a brand new pair of dark glasses (or a pen) to remain in pristine condition over a period of regular usage? Highly unlikely.

You'll just have to get used to it, and honestly, try to embrace it. A watch with a few scratches and dings here/there is a watch that was worn, but worn by YOU. You should be proud to be the only one wearing it, and making memories with your expensive friend.

Bring to AD if you are worried about authenticity. And yes they will scratch but will clean up like new at first service if so desired.

The steel is pretty much the same hardness as the regular SS. There's a minimum difference but in real life it's not that big. Even platinum get dinged and scratches

Even though you bought from a trusted seller, you should have
had it authenticated immediately . Even if just for your own peace
of mind . I have no doubt your watch is authentic, as Thanh has a
pristine reputation .
No watch will not get scratches. When it's due for service , it will come
back like new and you can start the cycle all over again.

I have the same ref, and wear it in rotation, equally. One of the others on rotation is an in house Tudor Heritage Black Bay on one of the rivitted bracelets. Both are subjected to the same wrist time and circumstances........ over time the Tudor (non 904) has far far fewer surface marks, with the SubC clasp in particular looking a bit beaten ovrr just a few months. The Tudor is still prestine. Both from AD's....

Check the for sale ads, there are 30+ year old Subs for sale.
That should answer your question.

I bought all my watches from AD and I can tell you it's very easy to scratch the steel bracelet. It's not indestructible haha

You haven't had the pleasure of a Damasko then. Those things are nearly scratch-proof.

I can vouch for that!! I tripped and accidentally smacked my hand against a concrete column and I looked for like 5 mins for a scratch and I found nothing. I don't know what witchcraft they use but it works

Relax. It's real and it can take a beating, but it'll scratch.
You'd probably have a heart attack if you saw my 6.5 year old sub

And this is why you never, NEVER, remove the stickers. Rolex goes thru all the trouble to put them there so that your Sub will never scratch and people just remove them?

Unfortunately I'm afraid there's not much that can be done at this point, just throw it out and start over.

You've questioned the authenticity of a watch you bought from a highly trusted seller because...it has scratches?

Speechless.
