Swap 2015 Daytona & new SD43 for WGDD

I have seen the DD40 in white gold and have fallen in love with it.
You can get them 2nd hand in the UK for around £20,000!
I could most probably swap my new SD43 and 2015 Daytona for one from a reputable grey dealer.
Will I regret this massively?

Would seem a shame to lose 2 current 'in vogue' pieces for one replacement.

In your position, personally I wouldn't but then again I'm not you!

Some serious soul searching on your part over the next few days/weeks I think!

Good luck whatever you decide.

I wouldn't personally. I would also expect a little cash to come your way if you are looking at a 20k one.

It's very hard to answer this as this is a swap of some what epic proportions. You have 2 watches perfect for daily wear - would you plan to wear the DD everyday? And not worry about the blingness factor and the idea of a 20k watch on your wrist all the time?
Personally - I wouldn't do it unless you have fallen out of love for both your current watches. But the heart wants what it wants.

I wore a WG DD II as a daily and had zero issues. Doubtful there would be any regrets.

i have a 36mm white gold DD 'cherry' with matching crocodile strap - £17K+

a lovely dress watch i would never wear as a daily watch - as said its a watch for special occasions

daily i wear a 36mm DJ stainless with blue dial for shooting/fishing and when damage is very possible - for more gentle days i wear a 36mm DJ stainless and Everose with black dial

and i'm waiting for my white ceramic Daytona to arrive

The DD40 is the watch I will always want but realistic never obtain. There are not two modern SS Rolex out there that I wouldn't make that trade for and that includes my current, which is my favorite SS. I'm a one watch everyday guy and think white gold, appearance wise, would fall in that category for me. Yes. If I had the resources I would make that trade.

I would not. I would prefer having the two watches as opposed to just one.

If at all possible, I'd hang on to the SD, flip the Daytona and try to save towards the DD40.

Off course you should do it. Better to have one you really love than two you like.

I agree with many of the folks here - I'd keep the two pieces you currently have. You could always add the WGDD to the collection later on.

I don't think I could be happy with just one watch, even a grail piece but many are perfectly content with one. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't trade my Daytona and SD43 for a WG DD unless you really don't enjoy them any longer.

Thanks for all the sensible comments.
It's a hard one ! The SD 43 is still in the box and I haven't used it yet and I love my Daytona.
I couldn't justify the DD without selling both watches.
And I know if I did this deal A. The Daytona is discontinued and would only be able to get a second hand one and I've had mine from new and the SD 43 you can't get.
B. The DD would be worth less then I pay for it.
So wouldn't be able to reverse the deal.
Think I might take all the stickers off SD and use it !

The DD40 is worth it, esp as the Daytona is not the ceramic.

I'd do it so fast...and I own the 116500 and don't think the sd43 will keep its initial hype/appeal:

Look at it this way as well....Do you want your heirs to inherit one watch or two?

You haven't even taken the stickers off the SD43? I think I would be so excited I wouldn't be able to wait to de-sticker it or maybe you aren't "excited" for it........ if not, trade. You know the Daytona is going to get bias opinions here...... the weight, the "heft", the feel of the gold as it warms to your skin and disappears on your wrist ..... that makes this a trade I would consider. Does it SING to you?

My thoughts, too. I would want to have one steel piece to go with the DD, and with the strong resale of the Daytona, you shouldn't have to put too much cash in.

The resulting combo, DD40 and SD43, would be ultra nice.

Go big or go home.

You can pick up a SD43 and a Daytona later if you need. If anything, I'd keep the Daytona and try to add, but if you need to prioritize - pick whatever makes YOUR heart sing.

That's a really tough call. If the DD40 is what you really want its hard to pass up.

The one caveat, is there's no bracelet adjustment on the DD and if you're like me, that could be a deal breaker , especially if a one and only .... just food for thought.
