3 Submariner Collection?
I always thought my first Rolex was going to be a DateJust, but my tastes have changed and I'm now very much into the Submariner, specifically the Hulk and the full yellow gold with blue dial and bezel. I've finally gotten myself in a position where I'm comfortable shelling out money for the Hulk and the 116618 will remain a frail for now.
Here's the thing... I also know that my father will be passing down a two tone black dial Sub to me in a year or two. It's the most recent 116613 which he got when it first came out. Right now, it looks like I'll be owning at least two, if not 3 Subs in the next 3-4 years. (The 116618 is a stretch, but I like to dream big). I personally find the idea of an all Sub collection to be quite interesting, but what do you guys think? I know there are Submariner collectors, but they mainly focus on vintage model. Does anyone here "collect" modern day subs? Or stick to any one model line for that matter? |

Collect what you like. If you don't sell them you'll eventually have a vintage collection.

3 Submariner Collection?
If you like them, why not? I personally like the sport model look and style. You can always branch out if your tastes change.

If you enjoy them go for it. I have had a bluesy and non-date before....I sold the bluesy but not because I had two subs....I kind of want that one back someday.

I had 5 Subs at one point, 1 modern the rest vintage.
Only 114060 & 116613lb now but next will be a 116610lv. So end up with 3 modern Subs but all different colors. Always been my favorite reference. Tried plenty of other models but end up back with Subs.

Nothing wrong with a collection of subs, they sound great!
Do a google search of Mike Wood, he's got the vintage sub market cornered

Collect what you want, and don't worry about what others think. If you end up with 3 Subs then so be it. The Sub is such a versatile and classic piece that having it in different colors isn't a bad thing. If you hold onto them long enough they will become vintage so no worries about that, especially if you prefer the newer references.

Sure !!!Can't have too many Rolex divers !!! My favorite reference too and don't forget the Sea-Dwellers...they really are Submariners too (just a tad more tech inside )
Very Nice !!! Which one do you find yourself wearing the most ? which one would you keep if only 1 ? As Rolex divers, I currently own my SubC LV (my fave watch) and just got a SD 116600 in June.

I'm not a fan of redundancy, but it's a matter of personal taste, if you like them enough to have multiple of them that's perfectly fine!

Thanks Brian I wear both no date Subs a bit more. I really don't know which one I'd keep if just one. I love all three equally. |

If Subs blow your skirt up, then why not? One of our members has all Daytonas so why can't you have all Subs? Go for it

How about three degrees of subs? A vintage Sub (5512/5513), a modern Sub (ceramic date/no date), and a badass Sub (sea-dweller/deep-sea)?
This way you cover all the bases! |

I love the submariner. I did just add a RG Yacht Master which is a total diversion from my norm. Jury is still out on this. But I love my other subs, and the sea dweller.
