Incoming! Welcome all thoughts

Well.....without going into the whole ridiculous story, this 1966 1016 showed up today. I have couple days to think it over. It arrived with a USA oval link Jubilee, that does look quite nice on it, but I wanted to see what it looked like with a rivet bracelet, so I attached my C&I rivet bracelet from the same year. All in all....I really like it!
Plus, the shade of the lume plots are almost exactly the same as the same year Sub I have.

Per, I don't know! I guess it's the pessimist in me that always assumes "something will go wrong" is right around the corner!

Stunning 1016! Great patina. You could nit-pick the slight discoloration on the tritium on the minute hand, but I wouldn't. Super crisp for a 50-year-old watch. Congrats.

Crisper than I am for a 50-year-old human!
And, re the minute hand, that was the only thing I knew I'd have to "get over" and for whatever reason....and this IS against my usual inclination...it doesn't really bother me. Plus, in real life looking at it from a foot or so away, I can barely see it.

Hope to bump into you one of these days in the city, Aaron!

Very nice, looks great! Not a common combo with the jubilee, any pics? I think I probably prefer the rivet...

Perfection sucks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wabi-sabi It took a lot of years to create that beauty, try not to screw it up. :)

Yes, indeed!

Perfection is impossible on these old beauties. I had a similar issue with my 6263, which has a tiny bit of missing lume on the 3 and 9 o'clock tritium dots. I threw the loupe away, and love the watch anyway. Age and character with wrist presence is what I look for. Anything old under a loupe will show its age. That's a sweet Explorer!

Congratulations. I think it looks great on both bracelets and it would also look good on some vintage leather and NATO straps.
