Icon6 why need a blind man wear a watch?

watching Penn & Teller tonite... s4e2 with Richard Turner, card mechanic who's blind since age 9 (& karate black belt!)

Super smooth operator but I got intrigued - why need a blind man wear a watch?

especially that iconic super shiny ice blue dial

What's wrong with a blind person looking stylish? When I wear a speedo, everyone around me probably wishes they were blind.

If I drink heavily right now and bang my head against concrete MAYBE, just maybe I'll be able to get that image out of my mind

Sold a car to a blind lady once. Literally. Titled, registered and insured it to her. Her caretaker drove her around in it. True story.

Can't get a good view of the watch but the colors look like a platona. There are braille watches out there.

Because he wants to!
I imagine it's for the same reasoning that we wear Rolex's instead of Timex's.

No no no, y'all miss my gist.

The guy is a "card mechanic", stage show card trick magician if you aren't familiar with Penn & Teller.

He takes a huge long speil explaining he's gone blind since 9 etc etc etc etc and has trained his fingers to be his 10 eyeballs etc etc etc etc...

He's got a bling gold chain peeking out under his open collared shirt, he's got a chunky gold bracelet on his left wrist and wears platona on the right.

I'm just curious:-

1, is he really blind or all that jazz just a show routine

2, would a blind man spend that much on a bling watch that he can't read?

Didn't know what the local time at filming is so can't tell if watch is set to correct time

Blind doesn't always mean 100% blind. Many people listed as blind have partial vision. Maybe the guy can see basic shapes really close up.

That's how I knew my wife's DJ was jewelry.

Was just reading Richard Turner's bio. He named his son, Asa Spades Turner.
