Power Seller Shame
http://cgi.ebay.com/1980-Rolex-Subma...1%7C240%3A1318
Personally I think this listing is pathetic. Totally hyped, deceptive listing featuring a vintage Submariner 16800, pictured with a warranty paper. If you read the small print in the listing, it DOES NOT HAVE or come with a warranty paper. Is there no integrity anymore? Maybe I just expect too much from people. That's why we say, buy here on the forum.

Before is the seller's quoted response as to why he felt the need to be deceptive in this listing by infering the watch came with a warranty paper as evidenced by the photos.
"Maybe you can tell me why you think it is deceptive ? I used a guarantee paper as a background rather than a piece of toilet paper and I clearly stated that there is no box or paper for this deal. What's wrong with that ?" - watch-navi I guess a warranty paper has more integrity than a piece of toilet paper, used or not. Now I understand his sales pitch completely.

Seller wrote: "watch only no box or paper", does the "no" apply to only box or does the "no" apply to paper as well? Can it be interpreted that there is paper accompanying the watch?

Very simple. Buy an expensive watch from ebay and you are gambling!
Never ceases to amaze me that folks are willing to hand over thousands of dollars to a complete stranger for a product they have not seen in person! |

what is more disturbing for me, is the fact that he is a power seller with 100% positive feedback over more than 1000 feedback and 100% a seller of watches&parts.
I read so many times in here an advise that everytime want to purchase from eBay, buy the seller, but if even this kind of reputable seller can make a deceptive description, then I am totally lost with the meaning of 'buy the seller' |

I for one am one of the many who have bought their Rolex's (some or all) off ebay and I'm happy to say I got taken only once and I kinda sorta saw that one coming (currently, the person who sold me that watch is under indictment of over 12 counts of fraud!!! he's going to go away .... so, I guess I'm a gambler in your eyes! well I didn't bet the farm and I'm still here posting so guess I didn't lose.

I used to buy off of ebay all the time, only got taken once and it was on the tudor scandal.
but now I usually buy from social networking sites like ours or other watch sites-as these days I actually get better deals buying from trf'ers than off of ebay!! |
