15202 owners, how do you keep them clean?

Wondering if any fellow Jumbo owners can share what you do to keep your watch sparkly new.

I typically take my pieces with me in the shower on my wrist, use a little bit of soap, rinse thoroughly and wipe off with a microfiber towel. Done it for all the pieces I've owned through history.

With the 15202, I'm thinking I need to find another way to clean it. Without a screw down crown, and low-ish water resistance, I'm reluctant to put it underneath running water (heck, even when I'm washing my hands I'm cautious to not get the watch near the stream of water.)

Funny you post this! While getting ready for work today, I did what I do everyday: washed my 15300. It's part of my morning routine and takes ~5 minutes. I run it under the sink, get a good lather going with Sonnett soap and a give it a quick scrub with my hands and a soft toothbrush. Then rinse and dry with a top-quality microfiber towel.

It really makes such a difference in wearing the watch - it always looks brand new! And, as my commute involves 30min on the NYC subway, I rather look down and see my shiny AP then something with fingerprints and smudges all over it.

Anyway, I was thinking about how the ability to do this every day is one of the reasons I actually prefer my 15300 to the 15202 as a daily wearer. Now, if I was totally loaded and could have it as part of a rotation, I guess I could deal with it. But as a daily wearer, it just doesn't get better than then 15300.

Now I'll wait for all the 15202 owners to say they wash their's on a daily basis, too, and make me look silly.

If you're afraid to put it under water maybe some veraet and a microfiber towel?

I occasionally wash mine in luke warm water, liquid hand soap and give it a light brushing with an old toothbrush. Rinse and dry with a hand towel

Veraet works wonders! My 15202 was admittedly getting a bit grubby...

I wash it under tap water with the crown side face downwards.

is everyone sure the crown is actually the reason for the limited WR? I had a Bretling transocean unitime pilot WR to 100m and it didn't have a screw down crown.

Could it be the thinner profile means it has a thinner gasket between the case and bezel? Just curious as i don't know what the actual weak point for water entering would be for sure. For all i know, you could be avoiding running water over the wrong part of the watch.

It’s 30m WR, so unless your bathroom sink is 35m under the sea…!

If you really want peace of mind, you could pull out your screwdrivers and give the case back screws a wee tighten – less than a quarter turn, and opposite screws remember – otherwise wash with crystal uppermost, and rinse by splashing water up on the underside.

15400 is also rated 50m but has a screw down crown. Actually funny, my AD accidentally pressure tested mine at 10 bar (100m) and it passed. I'm not worried taking it swimming.

The 6-screws caseback is probably the reason why the WR is rated low. It requires tight tolerance for the gasket to be equally compressed/tighten to maintain water integrity.

It’s easier with screw in caseback. Single point of action.

I wash no differently than I do any other watch. Run it under water and use Veraet with microfiber cloth and soft brush that comes with kit. Never an issue and works like a charm!
