Help with Rolex hang tag and box sticker
I recently bought a 16800 with a matte dial. Included were two hang tags one had the serial number of the watch on it. Here is a photo of the other tag and the sticker that was attached to the outside of the box. What do these numbers represent? I assumed that it was from another Rolex model that the original owner had and just threw it in the 16800 box but why write the number on the outside of the box?
Also the box had a black circle sticker and I noticed the box for the birth year 16570 I bought my son for his graduation had a tan circular sticker beside the sticker with the model number. What is the purpose of the colored round sticker? |

The colored round sticker usually represents the dial color. The 5-6104 are the first 5 digits of the serial number, never seen it depicted like that however.

The sticker on the box is correct as I remember seen the similar sticker in my vintage Rolex box. The serial tag sticker is suspicious as I never seen something like that before.

I'll second your comment regarding the green serial tag. I've seen hundreds of those tags and have never seen one written like that before. The fonts are correct but the rest of it is very curious indeed.

That tag is not the serial number of the watch in the box. There is another hang tag with the correct serial number to the watch. This was just an extra tag that was in the box but the same number is written on the side of the box for some reason.
Would this be the tag for a Rolex model 6104? |

Wonder what is the # after the 1665 on this SD tag too. Anyone, please?

I didn’t see your earlier thread but I have an opinion that the stickers on the box and on that tag were added by the AD - not by Rolex Geneva. Boxes are a distributor item. My opinion is the tag with the number is part of an AD’s inventory system. This way they can track sales as well as match up a watch in the display case with its box.
