What is currently the safest way to ship a watch from the US to Australia? My understanding is that USPS Registered Mail is not necessarily secure after it leaves the US. FedEx with Parcel Pro insurance seems to be a popular choice. Is this the preferred shipping/insurance method?

FedEx Parcel Pro insured is what the U.S. seller used for my watch transactions.
The FedEx "Customer Service Representatives" then acted as Agent on my behalf to get the item through Australian Customs.

Can individuals who are not part of a business create a Parcel Pro account?

At the moment I am waiting for a watch I bought from the States. It was shipped by USPS and is in customs in the UK. There is good tracking info. But they will only insure up to $2500.
Was shipped Monday of this week and is scheduled to arrive Monday coming. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Brad, probably best to ask that question (and others) to FedEx.
I can tell you that there was a 'problem' with my last purchase from the States because the US vendor did not initially provide required documentation (item description, value etc) on his business letterhead. Australian Customs demanded this and there was a scramble to comply as any significant delay would have seen the item returned to the vendor. Vendor was not pleased - but complied, and the problem was resolved and the item subsequently processed by Australian Customs, thanks to the efforts of the FedEx 'Customer Service Rep.

Yeah, in your shoes I would contact them ASAP to gather those details. Australia's customs seems fairly tough but with third party insurance, shipped by reliable sources e like FedEx you should be fine once you've done enough research and prep prior to shipping the watch there.
