Incomming! My 1st Rolex
Hi All,
Long time lurker, new user. I got my first Rolex yesterday with a 116610LN Sub date ST/ST blackface. After being told by last month by every retailer in the universe that there would be a 1-2 year+ waiting list (Goldsmiths - 75 people in the queue, independents with 30 in the queue), I had a call from a retailer in London that had my details saying they had one. Needless to say, I was down there like a shot and got it bought. Love it. Paid retail for it too, no silly mark-ups. Don't know why I didn't do it sooner. I've got a Breitling SuperOcean 44 also, but the Sub is a nicer fit on my girly wrist. My Breitling Cheers for reading! |

Very nice. A classic timepiece that you will keep for a very long time. Something that you earned....so enjoy it.

Congratulations and shows again that they are out there to be found if you're persistent (makes it sound like by finding a really expensive watch to buy, you've actually won some kind of prize, but that is how it is at the moment, at least in the UK, and increasingly, it would seem, in many other countries!)

Congrats. I think it is being in the right place at the right time. Luck.
I went in my AD this time last year to look at a Tudor Pelegos. Said that I'd really like a Sub Date. They said, they had one in that day for another customer who they had called and he said he didn't want it any longer. So I snatched their hand off! Paid retail for it and a month later Rolex put their prices up and retail went up £500. So my timing was perfect and very lucky. Enjoy your sub!!! |

Cheers all. As said, I think it really was right place, right time. They had a delivery from Switzerland the previous evening. The chap being served next to me was also buying the same Subc, so they must have had a few in.

Hi,
First of all welcome to the Rolex Ownership club! Hope you have many great times and adventures with your Submariner. Now if I may..... at the risk of annoying some here I'd like to voice my displeasure at the use of the term " Popped my [Rolex] Cherry ". No I'm not a prude. Raised three sons so I've heard it all. But ~ the phrase is clearly a sexual reference and to be honest I think there are better ways to express your excitement about getting your first, and you must know it will not be your only or last :), Rolex. There are not many female posters on this forum but we are here. JMO of course. Again, enjoy your new Sub! Cheers, Sarah |

I certainly hope this isn’t a sign of my pending maturity, but I agree with all that you’ve written
