Anyone had any experience with this?

The high end watch snob? There are some high end watch owners/collectors that look down on Rolex. They actually feel Rolex is beneath them and they for people who really dont understand a fine time piece.

It goes both ways...some Rolex owners go in thinking their watch is the end to all end and get offended easily when the Patek/AP/Lange/Breguet etc start a 'watch' conversation.

No true watch fan can deny Rolex quality and the ability to produce so many watches with such high quality control.

The reason why some people look down on Rolex is because it's the most popular and well known luxury watch brand in the world.

This means that it attracts every random person with money who knows nothing about watches, but just wants the most popular expensive thing on his wrist to show that he has money.

I blame myself for this as well. I've recommended a Rolex to countless people over the years. Almost all of them know next to nothing about watches.

No, I can’t say that I have. Did you have an experience with someone like that?

I will be honest that I didn't have nearly the knowledge of other brands outside of the big three until joining TRF. Thanks of the awakening.

Some people hate Rolex just because they are a big easy target. I was one of them for a while. Over the last few years I have come around to appreciate Rolex for what it is...

It has been my experience that some people equate rare with quality. In other words something massed produced like Rolex surely cant be of the same quality.
