do you ever reach the end
Note A first world problem with a degree of humor intended so no flames please..
I'm lucky enough to own 5 stellar sports watches from Patek, AP and Rolex and an additional sixth Omega beater. I really don't need anymore watches and however as much as its not needed the Patek 5205R remains a AC/Dress/Grail alleged Exit watch. This grail is a distant goal however I currently find my eyes wondering to short to medium term "fillers" such as the Sinn 903 Navitmer, Seiko 62MAS and other similarly priced watches none of which would come close to my current collection or indeed my exit watch. After my last BLRO purchase I promised myself and the wife I was done so why then do i find myself drawn to these needless and with all due respect to the brands inferior (IMO) models to my current collection. I know if I buy them they will stay in my collection for 6 months max, I'll lose my backside on resale and they will not get a great deal of wrist time but the force is strong on this one My gut tells me if i got the patek tomorrow Id feel the same way in a few months.. |

I agree with Tom. Stay off watch forums and websites. Especially sites like Hodinkee -- they fuel the hype train by making every watch seem like an "essential" addition to your "collection"
There was a time when watches were actually tools, but now they are jewelry. If you feel like you "need" another watch, then it's time to take a step back IMO. |

The Patek 5205 is a gorgeous watch. I will say it's the best AC Patek. Are you eyeing the black or white dial?

I’ve realized that it’s the feeling that I go for, not the watch.
The enjoyment of a new acquisition. Ive realized it’s a relatively hollow feeling. I look to watches for a quick fix to boredom. I’m doing my best to be done with buying watches. Granted I just picked up two new omega Basel releases. But as much as I like these watches, the purchases simply reinforced the feelings I stated above. Best thing for me is to be done with watches.

I haven’t bought a new watch in about four years now. I’m very content with what I have. Am I done forever? No, but until I find something I really like and the budget is there I’m good for a while.
I agree that the forums almost make it seem like “everyone “ has a gold sub etc. it’s just not the real world. |

The 5205 is a gorgeous watch.
Do you have a minute repeater yet? No Patek collection should be without one. Something to look forward to. |
