Was this Rolex ever in production?

Was this just a Proto type or did they ever produce any for sale ?

never produced for sale, but used on a deep dive, I saw it when they had it displayed at certain Rolex dealers a few years ago (they had it here in NYC Lower Manhattan AD).

I can try to dig up the photos from it to post later.

But can it safely be worn in the shower or a hot tub?

Never a production watch intended for sale.
But if i recall correctly there were two of them intended for the big James Cameron dive.

It is more of a technical exercise just like the DSSD, only scaled up as required to go the full depth.

I wonder how much it would go at auction seeing as the PN Daytona went for such serious money.

Thanks for sharing the information. With some of the other responses one must wonder how nice it would be to know everything there is about Rolex’s so much that you can make fun of others.

That was just inside-baseball forum humor. No offense intended.

Here's so more info on the watch: https://www.ablogtowatch.com/rolex-d...-of-the-ocean/

I take it you already read the Rolex page? I'm still a bit confused as to why the Robot Arm needed to know the time but I'm willing to go with it.

It looks great on a robot arm.

I wonder if there is a thread about whether it’s a good idea to buy a Deepsea Challenge for your under water robot arm
