Only fished twice. Once on a local lake, didn't catch a thing.
Once in Canada in a place called Minaki (north of Regina). Had a large group and they put 2 of us plus a guide in each boat. Didn't catch a fish, but caught the other guy in my boat right at the crotch of his shorts. If I had tried to reel him in, it would not have been a good thing. |

Putting a line in the water is the best way to make it look like you're doing something when you're actually not, but I found baiting the hook just interferes with the rather serious task of consuming all the beer in the cooler.

Totally agree with you. The beer part gives you a good work out from lifting the beer while you wait for the fish to bite |

Did you catch it on a line? As a Yankee i always envision people catching them with their bare fist and some chum like on the tv shows Edit: Honest answer to the question it was a fish I caught in the inter coastal waterways near Naples Florida. Probably a couple pounds nothing flattering. The most fun I’ve ever had “fishing” was crabbing if that counts. I get a kick out of trying to reel in the blue crabs off the docks with a string, hook, chicken thigh and a net.

Caught a couple black marlin off the coast of the DR several years back. Other than that in Clearwater Beach area we frequently catch pretty large redfish.

Nice Bull Dolphin . My father and I went down to Cabo about twenty yrs ago and we had a tremendous day . One Blue Marlin ,450 lbs ,six sails ,ranging from 90-150lbs and several dorado, which we had filleted and prepared by the hotel chef that night . Best single day of fishing ,ever . My grandfather ran a 40 ft Striker out of FLL and we went out almost every weekend as a kid . We never had a day like we had in Cabo. Fond memories .

My son and I️ brought in this 250-300lb Goliath Grouper in on a rope and hook in 2015. That’s my arm in the photo for scalability.

Most years I spend a few days on an Island with a mate who lives there, and we go crabbing and fishing in the mangroves.
My fishing skills have not really improved over the years but the company is good and it's nice out on the water with the occasional cold beer to quench the thirst.

Have caught some large King salmon as well as a few 50lb+ Albacore off the Calif.coast but nothing that would rate in the record books. Use to fish with a couple of serious trophy guys who would travel the world almost monthly looking for the elusive record catch. One of them held the record for a Tapron on a fly rod, along with a record bass caught on the Amazon. Serious fisherman. I did a float trip on the Karluk river on Kodiak Island in November fishing for Steelhead once that was more like a survival trip but still fun.

It was one big fish! We even caught another similar sized fish a few minutes after this one. The massive fish were merely a footnote on this charter. We got caught in a massive storm on the way back in and almost capsized. Exciting and scary at the same time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
