Am I missing the point of the ROO

Right its a chronograph, its sporty, its waterproof to 100m... so why do they put them on from the factory with a leather strap? Metal or rubber would be so much more suitable to the main purpose of these watches, no?

They do come with a bracelet or rubber if you want.

Not sure what you're asking/stating?

On the website the 'default' strap is the leather. And I cant find any pictures of say the Vampire with a metal bracelet.

Just find it weird when watches have a water resistance like these and are then put on a leather strap

Vampire...?

I'm sure someone will provide you with the answer you're seeking.

The Vampire is great but it is a desk diver watch, buy the ROO diver on rubber if you want a desk diver watch that is more diver. Better still buy a Deep Sea if you are a diver.

I put mine immediately on rubber. Made it significantly better and more useful IMO. Like anything though, it's always nice to mix things up.

Wrong forum btw...

you either get it or you don't with offshores.

Many come on rubber as "standard". All of the 44mm's and all of the divers for example. All have rubber options though.

I like your use of leather threads to guard the back of your palm from the crown. Interesting that not that many folks are putting it on the crown side.

waiting for my elephant to land and this picture has got me even more impatient. Amazing on rubber. I am waiting on a brand new one so it'll be with the horseback, may I ask where you purchased this rubber strap from, and whether you interchange them yourself? Looks superb and definitely an option I'd like to have

Not just leather but hornback which made it rather unique and I loved them on the old ROOs, but I think the rubber looks great on the 44s and more versatile.

The point of a ROO is to be an in your face monstrosity of a watch. Doesn't matter what strap it comes on at that point.

I'm confused- are you a fan of the Offshore or not?

Indeed!

I must admit that I’m not a great fan of the horn back strap - they look great, but I find leather uncomfortable in a hot climate.

Love ROOs on rubber and steel though

I generally agree and its one of the reasons panerai always confused me. Fortunately, you can put them on rubber. Kind of like when your car comes with run flats. Annoying, but not the end of the world.

It is the newish black and red ROO 42, I had heard it mentioned a few times but a Google search shows this is quite universal now, like the Elephant.

It's a nice looking watch - and to me that is 'the point'.

Why else would you buy it?
