Biggest Rolex Store in US Has No Sports Models

So, I walk into the massive Rolex boutique in NYC this afternoon, the one that’s in the same building that houses the U.S. Rolex headquarters .... and not one steel sports model was available, and only a couple of yellow gold models. No Subs of any sort, no Deep Seas, GMTs, no Explorers or IIs, and of course no Daytonas or the new SD. Nothing. Just hundreds of other models, such as DJs, DDs, and women’s watches.

Sales rep told me they won’t get any more until after Christmas. Not sure if that’s BS or not, but it seems insane that the stock at the biggest store/dealer in the U.S., which I believe is run by Wempe, doesn’t have any basic sports models heading into the holiday buying season. I knew this was going on in Europe, but I assumed you could still get a steel Sub, for example, with relative ease at a dealer. I assume it’s like this elsewhere across the U.S. Go figure.

This is par for the course here! I’m actually shocked if I ever do see a SS sports model in an AD

I was coming in to say the same thing. Other than maybe like a Hulk or a Daytona, I’m seeing absolutely no shortage in San Diego.

I went and looked at multiple watches this week and every watch I went and looked at (sub, sub date, milgauss, datejust) were all in stock.

Royal Maui Jewelers (Escondido location) in San diego
has lots of Ss...ask for a guy named Tal (handlebar mustache) he’s heavy into watches and the forum. A true watch guy who works at a ad is rare

Don't know about that. I think one in Fashion Valley has more.

No SSI

The largest AD in Michigan is almost out as of 11/12, I went in Friday to look at a 114060, had 4 went back Sunday 2 left and bought 1 for myself, stopped Monday and the last one, display model was gone. They said that's it til nexr year and prices will probably go up since no price increase in 5 yrs.

That does seem to be the case at most AD's, sure there's some exceptions, but for the most part SS sport models are drying up until after Christmas.

They keep small amount in the vault for select customers, but it basically says that Rolex inventory is drying up.

I have been there. I would imagine there are other boutiques in big cities that have the same kind of large inventory. Not sure if true, but heard a boutique is required to stock every reference watch Rolex currently makes.

Glad you liked it!

Fun fact: I used to rent cars to Bill Nunn (the actor sitting in the chair across the desk from J.K. Simmons in that scene). He was a nice guy, may he RIP.
