My cat is relentless

She's been hooked on Friskies for a week now. Like really, I think she might have a problem. I sat down to watch a movie with my GF and noticed the cat sitting in the corner of the room waiting at the start of the movie. That 100% of the time means she wants food. She has pile of good dry cat food not but 6" from her in the pic so I didn't think nothing of it. 2.5 hrs later she's still sitting there waiting! I immediately opened a can of salmon dinner and she all but jumped in! What do they put in this stuff?? Never knew cats had this kind of attention span. It was almost like she was thinking I've got 10 years left to live and I going to spend all of it sitting here waiting for that damn can of salmon friskies you b@stard! My other cat was all but kicking in the door from outside the room to get in! What's happening??

She's adorable!
Ours is addicted to Purina, the one with tuna and shrimps. There's no way we can start or end the day without it and she makes sure we get the message every time...At least yours is patient.

One of my cats is the same way. She has a set meal time, but starts circling me around 3 hours before with the hope I’ll feed her early. Literally goes crazy for any seafood (salmon, tuna) flavor canned food.

Our cats do the same. I give them a can in the AM and PM of a brand called I and Love and You. It's one of those all natural, no animal by-product brands. In a way, the Rolex of cat food, I guess. It's on recurring delivery from chewy.com so I don't have to go to the store for it.

LOL.....we take care of a feral cat that occasionally sleeps on porch or in garage (we crack door when cold or wet). We feed him cheap DRY cat food daily, he is very skittish and will not get close to us.

HOWEVER......when we treat him to wet food, he comes within three feet of us as we spoon out his Friskies into bowl. Llke you noticed, its a crazy reaction to WET Friskies.....must be like crack or catnip to them:)

Ha!!! Ours are hooked on Whiskas pouches. We only used to feed dry food. Now at night we take a Whiskas pouch and split it up as a topping between their two bowls. Usually feed them about 9pm. They start to circle and chase everyone that goes within 6 feet of the door to their bowls at about 7pm. If they don’t have it by 9 our lives get interrupted.

I’ve got a one year old Maine Coon and his torso is already longer than mine. We didn’t realize his breed(freebie cat, neither did the owner!) but he’s theee sweetest. He LOVED Friskies so much we have to separate him from his bowl for breaks so he doesn’t inhale it and throw it all up in the hall.

Normally I would be bleeding profusely for such unannounced petting but saved by cat food! Even my skitzy tuxedo cat doesn't even care about anything other than wet cat food.

We have two cats, Romeo and Sketchy. Romeo is a male Russian blue, someone abandoned him in our neighborhood and he wound up at our house. He’s a sweet and docile creature, very talkative and loving. The other is a female Siamese mix. One of my wife’s friends was moving out of state and couldn’t take both of her pets so we took the cat. She didn’t even have a name, they just called her kitty. Poor thing was scared to death when they gave her to us and it took a long time before she would even let me hold her but now she starts purring as soon as I pick her up. She’s a sweet cat and has been with us for almost 5 years now. The two cats tolerate each other but they don’t play together or snuggle with each other. Both are fixed and both are indoor only cats now.

They get 1/4 c each of dry food in the morning and a half of a small can of wet food in the evening. This is enough for each and keeps their weight in check.

I loves me some kitties.

It's junk food. Put ColdStone ice cream in front of me and I'd behave the same way.

On a serious note, it is junk food. Eat McDonald's all your life and you will develop problems. Most commercial pet foods will do the same for your pets.

Totally disagree. Every Veteran Aryan I have talked to has no issue with the wet food I give Pandarus. Some of the super cheapo dry foods aren't the best, mostly due to low moisture and high "filler" content, but the wet food is largely meat, fish, beef and chicken.

What do battle hardened white people have to do with it? All kidding aside, the issue isn't with wet or dry, but rather the ingredients in the bulk of commercially produced food.

What about royal canin dry catfood? Just picked up a bag and the cats seem to like it.

Though Royal Canin has decent daily diets, their real concentration (much like Hills Science Diet) is targeted issues. That is to say, if your cat has no known issues, you can feed a better daily diet. One thing to keep in mind about ANY dry food is to make sure there is clean water available for them to drink at all times.

Basically, my advice is to start with the ingredient list. Seek foods with meat, fish, or poultry as the primary ingredients. Chicken MEAL, or Chicken BY-PRODUCTS are not what I'm talking about. A Chicken McNugget is not chicken for purposes of this discussion. CHICKEN is what you're looking for, and so on with whatever protein source you choose.
