Thoughts on preordering 2019 Corvette ZR1

Well I called Chevy and they gave me the wonderful words we will take orders “soon.” Insult to injury my family has several dealerships and that’s all I can get. But doesn’t matter it will be here in early 2018. I think I’ll go with the Sebring Orange package and imho Chevy is shooting low with the HP and top speed numbers. Not to mention mine will go straight to East Coast Supercharging for some fun toys. 0-60 isn’t going to be too much improved since tires can only do to much but I feel sorry for anything short of a 7 figure car with big mods in the 1/4. My older Vette with around 730 rwhp )about the same as the new Z) dusted almost everything (minus a 1000+ Evo and Supra) and I think I want at least. 1000 RWHP on the Vette.are there any Vette fans here? Mom has a 54 her birth year and my first was a 97 at 17 and my beast of an 05 with a centri SC, FI cam built rear and meth kit. Like it or not there isn’t a car that will come close for 3x the cash. I like my USA products and I think I’m gong to go for it. I’m hoping low 8’s maybe 7’s in the quarter and can drive it all the time. I can’t afford a hypercar but I can sure embarrass them if they want to mess with me. Yea it might not be as refined as a Porsche or Ferrari but they look great in the rear mirror. Only things that really worries me is a TT Huracan or a moded McLaren 720s. But not too many in AL. A few more obstacles and I know this thing is going to be the beast of the road.

Well my ex after in law was 3 in charge of NJ State police so I got a few breaks. Now I try to stick to tracks but you would be surprised how many cops are easy on stupid fast cars as long as you aren’t an idiot. I got pulled over doing a 5-80mph and the cop asked me To do it again with himA few years ago. Great guy and he has a nice Camaro I saw later at a track.

I do miss my dads 94 but my truck has close to 100 more HP. Both are special. I like my ZR1 to have LaFerrari performance at a 1/10 of the price or probably less.... but I do agree. The c4s were sweet.

I’ll put it through it’s paces. Don’t worry. Low price is a VERY RELATIVE term. Still no figures that I’ve seen but I’m guessing loaded with the Sebring Orange Package and other options it’s going $150-165k at least. Plus prob another $30-50k in upgrades. Yes cheap compared to cars with similar performance but a far cry from the $65k Z06 a few years ago. Still I can imagine I can keep it for 6 months and do ok as long as I don’t put it into a tire barrier. I’m really excited to get a true driver in it and see what it will really do. I’d almost be willing to bet it. Will out-lap a Veyron, Pagani, And be real close to the 918 and LaFerrari. If rumors are true, only time will tell and I’ll bet those numbers fall when we up the boost.

It kind of makes the Dodge Demon seem like a rip off, especially with markups.

Thoughts on preordering 2019 Corvette ZR1

Our family does have 2 Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram dealerships and I can’t wait to take it down to the strip to see what the ZR1 will do to the Demon. I know what my 05 did to a Hellcat and let’s just say it wasn’t pretty for the Dodge but the Hell Cat is one of the most fun cars I’ve ever driven.

And to make it fair I will take the ZR1 stock before I do any mods.

I wish they'd do something a little different with the lines of the car. It's totally subjective, but IMO it's too boy racer for my taste. I much prefer the older body styles.

Incredible car though nonetheless.

Agree. Just not a fan.

Great car, sure. But while it puts up impressive numbers, it just seems too much for what it is.

I prefer the current and older designs. This just seems too much in your face.

I agree but I believe it’s trying to adjust weight distribution for performance. But I’m no engineer.

I do too I love driving moms 1954. Yea it’s about as fast as a dead Prius but that’s not the point. It’s an icon. It’s sex on wheels. I love driving on the track and having fun but cruising around town and getting all the looks and compliments just does something for me. Personally I really want a 1969 427. I don’t care about matching numbers I want something to have fun in. I don’t want to worry about some
Stupid scratch ruining a $250k restoration. I want to enjoy my cars.

These cars are fun to look at (beautiful paint) but my least favorite thing would be attracting attention or being an old guy driving around in a corvette. New cars today look too boy racer and are losing style, how many wings, slots and gee gaws can you put on a car. JMHO. Did drive a 69 427 vette when I was in high school (not mine) and it was awesome.

I don’t like you...... JK. Didn’t happen to be a L88 did it? Nothing like cruising around in a $1m+ car

I to have driven a few. Only one that was a true classic. 2 were 350 conversions but $40k vs $250k or so I could live with the secret.

Well it was around 1972 and I was trying to convince my dad to buy it. It was gold with a black rag top and side pipes. He was afraid I’d kill myself. He was probably right. I was doing a lot of street racing back then. By the way, the new Aston Martin Vantage debuted yesterday and the front looks like an algae eater. Way too many gee gawes on that one too. Maybe and I admit it, I’m getting too old.

I’m a Vette guy. I’ve owned three. My latest is a 2012 Torch Red Grand Sport Coupe. I still have it.

That ZR1 is beautiful and a beast too. Can’t wait to see one in the wild.

I know you said you have dealerships in the family but you might want to think outside the box. Try Kerbeck, MacMalkin or Mike Furman at Criswell.

ECS will be more than happy to fine tune that baby for you. I’d probably want to keep the GM warranty in tack for a bit, but that’s just me.

When they do hit the dealerships, I’m getting on the ferry and going to AC (Kerbeck) just to see one.

That Sebring Orange is stunning but remember the red Corvettes are the fastest.

I have been to all of those dealerships in my young middle 20s. I loved MacMalkin. Treated great even if they were t sure I was a buyer. AtKerbeck and felt a little disrespected even though I had one of our dealerships call and verify I could buy and they could cover a car if I found one (minus the first vette ever made.) They did feel a little pushy away from what I wanted. Trying to push me toward unpopular colors and older inventory. It might be a little longer but I will be able to get everything I want as of right now. As for the warranty I’m not too worried. If I blow it up I’d like to fully forge everything anyway depending on funds but after all the money I’ve had to dump into my boat and brand new engines I’m not sure a fully forged engine is in the works for a while but I have time. ECS has done ALL of my work. With my 05 I completely blew the rear end out pulling out of the lot. They moved me to the front of the line and I was. Good to go in a day or so with a rear that could handle all the power. All in all I went from around 475 RWHP to around 675 rwhp when I quit bc I didn’t want to put a new engine in. Still with slicks it was stupid fast. I had a pulley swap 2x meth kit FI cam rear end 3.5” headers Corsa extreme and trans brace. I wanted to go Turbo but the cost I just couldn’t justify completely tearing down the car for unknown gains and no telling how it would drive. The 05 drove stock until about 3000 rpm and then she came alive. I had no trouble breaking the tires loose at 80 mph if I wanted. But knowing what that car did I’m a little nervous about the new ZR1. I might keep it stock for a bit then start tinkering but we know how that goes. I just don’t want it so wild it always work to drive it. I mean basically stock it’s close to the C6. But I do plan to keep it tuned down and I don’t see myself driving it all the time. But with this means no watches for a while even though I’ve really been wanting Nautilus and a YG Blue Sub.
Oh I meant to say I was so close to putting a widebody kit on the c6 but you know how divorces go hahaha.

Hey Rich did I buy a set of Corsa extremes from you about 5-6 years ago? Maybe I just see ur name on here all the time. The guy I got them from had several vettes and at least one lift in your garage. I came with my wife around dark one night.

No Gunter, not me. I am on the Corvette Forum and also use my real name. I hang out a lot in the C6 section.

If it wasn’t for the Rolex Forum, I’d probably be in a C7 GS vert. I just figure the watches don’t have to be put to bed for the winter. I get more use out of them.

My 2012 GS came from MacMalkin. I had it shipped right to my front door in Little Egg Harbor. A pleasure to work with them. Being #2 they’re easier to deal with. My first two were ordered by me through Kerbeck. They are terrible on trade-in, but great pricing.

Barrett Jackson will probably get #1 and Hendricks will get the car. Next Jay Leno #2 and third probably Charlie Kerbeck. Then hopefully you’ll get number 4.

They all have gone up in price dramatically. Almost inexplicably. I lease a new truck (Silverado High Country) every 2 1/2 years. My last was a 2015. Loaded up was about $53,000. New 2017 I just got, same exact equipment, $57,000. Crazy. I call it the F150 effect. The Platinum and Limited F150 is in the mid $60,000s and they sell like hot cakes. GM had headroom to raise prices and they did. Now I have to admit the 2017 does have Apple car play and HID headlights

On the other hand. Wife drove Yukon Denali’s. Think we had 4 of them. Last new one was 2014. $56,000 msrp. Now, $75,000 msrp. I know the new one is way better, but $20,000??? They got into GL and LX range and that is not a good place for them to try to play. They are not near the build quality of MB or Lexus.
