My first Rolex purchase....

Hello all, I'm a city public school teacher, run a couple non-profits where I mentor youth, and I grind the 1/2 and 2/5 seen in holdem and pot limit omaha. The first two pay me spiritually, and the later has been good the last couple months, so I have found it's time to fill the poker grinder stereotype and get a nice watch since card rooms never have a clock.

Below is my first potential Rolex purchase. I know a little less about Rolex watches than I do kangaroo birth, so much so that I had to type "Rolex watches" because I can't figure out the plural of "Rolex." Can't be the guy who says shrimps, am I right?

*pics removed*

The person claims that it needs the mainspring fixed on the second hand.

My questions are:
Does it seem legit?
Who should I bring it to to fix it? Any watch smith or do they need to specialize in Rolexessss's?
What would a fair used price be for this?

Thanks for anyone who reads this!

Maybe around $2000 is fair? You may have to pay a few hundred dollars to get it repaired and bring it back to like new condition. That's my guess.

Thanks for the replies! I'll try to get better dial pics. So I collect Les Paul's, so I know a bunch of ways to spot reproductions without needing to get into the guts of the guitar. Is there anyway to do this with this watch when I go to pick it up?

I don't like it, find another imho.
Mind you, a full overhaul will set you back more than a few hundred

So to use a Poker Metaphor

Buying that watch is like calling a raise to the big blind when you're in first position with 9-10 suited. Could you win? Yes. But most likely you're beat before you even see the flop. And even if you do call... you better be ready to buck up because you know you're out positioned and he's most likely going to raise or bet after the flop.

So what I'm saying is that specific watch, although it's connected and suited - you can do better and you should fold and wait for the next deal.

This is of course assuming the watch is real. After looking at the pics again... it may be that someone is bluffing you.

I like you.

I mean GTO is raising the 910 suited not flaring pre, and a c bet bluff range of about 60%, depending on board texture. I don't mind being out of position due to the rate at which we will turn equity. Don't under value that 4% ev boast on the backdoor flush draw, due to the estimated value that gets added to our ev line.

With that said I passed on the watch. I would love to purchase from here, but at only a $1500 budget I kind of need to find a great deal. This board is rad though and very helpful, JRS if you're in upstate NY anytime let me know, I know where the juice is!

Fellow poker player here...

If you want a decent Rolex I suggest you tighten up, build your stack, and wait for a premium hand. In other words don’t buy with 1500... save and get a nice one for about 5000.

I tend to agree with this. Save for a nice watch. Yes, waiting sucks.

I'm no expert on pre owned watches. However, the first thing that struck me is how unusually large the crown is. Rolex crown sizes have always been, to my knowledge, in proportion to the case size. This one looks enormous.
